Very unhappy with food and service! I ordered a very simple bagel, lox and cream cheese ONLY! I was specific by saying nothing else. She asked me if I wanted Capers and I said no. Picked up the sandwich and took it home only to find lettuce, tomato and onions and just a smithering of cream cheese on only the bottom portion of the sandwich as thin as butter. I took the trouble to go back to the deli to let them know about the mistake and did not want them to remake it as this problem has happened before. I simply told them to "keep your sandwich" and I did not want them to remake it. I said I was done coming in and did not even ask for a refund. Got back in my car to leave when I was approached by a young man I believe is "Joey" telling me how rude I was coming in there like that and how wonderful their ratings were. I'd like to know what's wrong with me complaining about the sandwich and the service? Shouldn't a customer have the right to do that? And make no mistake about it.......I didn't yell or curse or anything. They have a nice place, but a bad attitude towards customers that are displeased with their own mistakes. What compounds the problem is this Joey has the audacity to come out to my car and come down on me for complaining! I guess he and they just don't get it it.
In response to your response......GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT. You're also forgetting the sliver of cream cheese which is a major part of the sandwich. I was successfully in the restaurant business years ago on River Street and know how to run a business. Your order takers need to learn how to listen. The F bomb was my pleasure after YOU came out to a 72 year old man's car and yelled like a child which you apparently are. I won't respond to any more of your foolishness here and just take my business to Midtown Deli who gets it right every single...
Read moreThe food we got from here was good! The Reuben sandwich had some sort of sweet component that made it kind of weird, so I dont know that I would ever order that again or recommend it. The Cuban was great. Pickles were chef's kiss. There was no real decor or welcoming environment to speak of so it didn't really make me want to stick around but I'd go back for the food for sure. The staff was also really friendly.
Update: I just tried the Italian, it was meh. I'm guessing the draw for some is that it's absurdly meaty...? Putting it on sliced bread was an odd choice to me, like why not a hoagie roll or something that might hold up? My lettuce was all wilted and gross so there was also that. My partner got the French dip....it was not good. The au jus was bland AF and the over all taste was very similar to like...Dinty Moore or perhaps dog food smell? Def don't recommend. Two sandwiches, two coffees that were mediocre at best, plus tip had us at like 42$ and it's just a no for me from here on out. Foods ok but not...
Read moreThe remodel is way better than it used to be and makes better use of the (very large) strip mall space. Much more modern and better laid out but lacks any character or charm- to be fair it's called "Coffee Deli" so.... Easy in/out/pretty much always parking. As a coffee snob the espresso is sub-par (I didn't even finish it). Breakfast sandwich was anorexic and overpriced- Looked like a generic diner sandwich. No flavor unless you ask for it- asking for bacon maybe afforded the sandwich half a piece of broken up bacon- very uninspired "cooking". They have very nice screens up front but they lack quick picks for breakfast except a picture of avocado toast. E.G #1 , #2, or named sandwiches. Named sandwiches makes breakfast memorable and associates the place with the food. I only go here on rare occasions and generally don't make it a habit to patronize the place. I pop in occasionally to see if they've improved because it would be great if I could call it my local...
