After observing the improvements to the outdoor pool during swim classes, we took a chance and signed up for the JEA pool instead of our regular neighborhood pool. Big mistake. First, the registration you complete online before activating your account at the facility, actually starts your 3 month period. Most significantly, the first week of June and the pool is closed for days, possibly a week. The pool has been closed all winter; scheduling maintenance now is poor planning at best. Lastly, don't expect friendly knowledgeable updates about the status of the pool. At the front desk, they know nothing about it and are not bothered to investigate further. They are happy to take your money but seem to have no sense of obligation to deliver the facilities paid for. I have brought my kids to the JEA for 15 years. They would sit in the waiting area while I work out. There younger girls so I wanted to keep an eye out on them. A couple of months ago I brought them again. I asked the staff if you would like me to pay for them. Just being curtious as I have done this for a long time. They said no need. So my kids were waiting for me while I worked out as usual. A staff member comes up to me and says your kids need to leave. WHAT? They sent a person to the back to come get me and the kids and escort us out. I was upset to say the least. Gave them a $50 bill and said my kids will never step foot in this place again and my kids and I walked out. I tl respectfully asked it I needed to pay for my kids sitting down ahead of time and was told ..no. then this happened. Crazy thing is I see kids sitting down I .that spot all the time waiting on their mom or dad to finish...

We are on our second year now of using the JEA after school program for our daughter. At the start of this school year we tried a new program (cost was less), but ultimately decided we would use JEA and pay a little more each month. The entire child care staff is so personable, and remember and learn about your child. There has never been an issue with the bus transportation from the school to the JEA, my child leaves there happy each day, and the program is organized in a way that makes sense for the kids age groups. My daughter gets to swim one day a week, is always doing crafts and learning new things, and it truly seems like the staff know her and understand her nature.
