Sunnyside Up — Restaurant in Savannah

I’m only commenting here after seeing such a disappointing review from a customer. I was there that day, waiting for my takeout order, and witnessed the situation firsthand.

The customer who left that negative review came in and immediately gave the young lady at the counter a hard time, giving her dirty looks and being disrespectful while ordering young lady was simply trying to take their order. The employee remained professional the entire time, taking the order without any complaints, attitude, or rude behavior.

After the young lady finished taking the order, she continued doing her job, packing orders for those in waiting, even though it was a busy day. Out of nowhere, the customer started yelling at her about her “attitude”, and neither did she asked her in good way about it customer was just yelling and “those random things” that were not random at all. Was that the employee even apologized, although she did absolutely nothing wrong. She does a great job every time I’m there, and it was unfair for that customer to target her and even drag the other Asian woman working there into the complaint, despite her not doing anything or even other customers saying anything about her because after all that the rude customer went outside guess they was having a bad day .

I’m a daily customer, and I’ve always experienced great service here. The entire team works hard to provide excellent food and customer service, and they handle busy days with professionalism and care. The cooks prepare amazing food, and you can tell the staff truly loves what they do and takes pride in their work. Keep doing what you do best making us customers feel at home, Sunnyside Up! Pretty Standard Diner food. Met the expectation. We ordered eggs with bacon and hash browns with onions and peas. Said she was just a slice of cheese mixed into our hash browns and it was not even fully melted it was still tasty but I was thinking that they would at least melt the cheese on top of it or something. The coffee was good the most were cute and we actually ended up buying one of the mugs to take home with us. Our friends have a chicken and waffles which I definitely would say I regret not getting because I think I enjoyed a bite of their food more than my own LOL the waffle really didn't have much flavor but the chicken was phenomenal and complemented the bland waffle well. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because our waiter had a bit of an attitude and seemed very impersonal. I never understood why someone who seems like they don't like people, would choose to work in customer service. He kept taking his mask down to talk to us which made me Pretty uncomfortable especially since we were seated and removed our masks so we could eat & drink. I understand that it's hard to communicate through the mask but if you are wearing it for a protective measure than it should stay on your face and not under your chin. Did not like the fact that he came over and brought us are receipt before even checking to see if we need more coffee or if we were done or wanted anything else. He also split the check automatically and just assumed that we were with the person we were sitting next to rather than across from.....never asked us how we wanted to check split if we even did at all...

Service was atrocious. Had to clean our table, waitress not attentive at all, over 45 minutes to order drinks, 20+ minutes to get them and when we finally got the food, that was also not very appealing. The fries were cold already and everything was overly greasy.

I'm not sure of the servers name honestly, it was a pregnant girl, which is not a reason or an excuse, I myself was 26 weeks pregnant at the time and also work in a customer oriented field where you're on your feet 9+ hours a day, lifting and bending with things 30lbs+ 5-6 days a week and am now 35 weeks still working the same 40+ hours and standing for all of them. However, it was January 4th between 1140 and 2 that we were there. We were to the right along the wall, directly adjacent to the pay area in a booth, it was myself and another female friend who had gone there actually because of all of the good reviews we found. Not sure if that helps or not, but hopefully it does.
