One of the worst hospital experiences I have ever had. My partner and I were here for over 16 hours, and over that period of time, we were repeatedly ignored, insulted, laughed at, and violated by the staff at this emergency room. The nurses were all either apathetic or incompetent, and their sole interest seemed to be getting us to leave. The facility was not just unsanitary, but completely filthy. There was feces and piss all over the floors and walls, as well as dried blood on the beds & equipment. My partner was subject to a number of cruelties by the nurses, usually as a result of the nurses not caring enough or just full-blown medical malpractice. After sitting in the waiting room for over 8 hours, we were taken back to a small, cramped hallway, where they wheeled out a dirty bed and shoved it against the wall. This is where we spent the rest of the night, as we were never taken to a room. The hallway was so crowded and busy that people were constantly knocking into us or pushing us out of the way, and we could hear dozens of other patients all stacked in the hallway moaning and begging and for help while in agonizing pain, as nurses scooted right by them and treated them like they were invisible. When the nurse went to draw blood from my partnerâs arm, my partner informed the nurse that they had severe anemia, but the nurse shrugged it off, and tied the tourniquet so tight that the circulation to my partnerâs arm was completely cut off. The nurse then absent-mindedly walked away, so my partner sat there in horrible pain, their arm turning purple, the blood loss causing their vision to go completely black. I called out for the nurse as my partner was about to faint, and the nurse finally came and just laughed it off, calling us funny and acting like my partner was just being dramatic. After the nurse drew blood and removed the tourniquet, she left the needle in my partnerâs arm, saying she might want to draw more blood later⌠however, that needle would be left in my partnerâs arm for OVER AN HOUR after that, as the nurse disappeared and never bothered to check back. Then, when someone finally came to check on us, they said it wasnât necessary to have the needle in anymore, and took it out anyway. During that time where the needle was stuck in my partnerâs arm, they literally could not move, and were on the verge of tears. But no one cared. My partner and I were also very thirsty, and so I walked around trying to find a water fountain, with no luck. I asked a nurse to bring water, but they said theyâd have to ask our nurse first, and couldnât give us anything. So I tried to go over to the vending machines to buy a bottle, but they were COMPLETELY EMPTY. all that was left was sugary energy drinks. Turns out, the staff wasnât giving ANYONE water, and now we were on our own. After going around begging nurses for water for another couple of hours, I finally managed to convince one to bring us a little dixie cup full of tap water. But the fact that it took so long was ridiculous. And no one ever bothered to help again. My partner needed to have an ultrasound done, so after sitting around in the hallway for hours, they were finally taken to a room. They were back there for over an hour, even though they were told it would be quick, because the technician WALKED OUT AND LEFT THE WAND INSIDE OF THEM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ULTRASOUND. My partner was left lying in the bed with the ultrasound wand inside of them for over half an hour!! Finally, a doctor came to see my partner at around hour 15, and after listening to my partnerâs concerns, he just smiled, laughed, and said there were no issues. He gave my partner a pat on the shoulder and told them that if they were feeling bad again, just go to urgent care. This was one of the most traumatic experiences my partner has ever had with medical care, and they are terrified to go to the ER again. Shame on this ER and their horrible staff! All they care about is money. Patients are just a nuisance to them. They will not help you. They do not care. Just try to avoid...
Read moreCame about a month ago after being referred by my primary care doctor to visit the ER to get some tests done that they couldn't perform at their office. I understand that not everyone has the best experience when it comes to emergency rooms, but that wasn't the case for me. I'm not a fan of hospitals, but I had a great experience, as far as the service goes, not so much with what brought me to the ER. From intake to discharge, everyone that treated me was courteous and professional. The emergency room Dr and nurse were great. Attended to my needs, answered all my questions, and provided great care. After it was determined that I would need to stay for observation and testing, I was moved to 3 South, and there I was taken care of by Dr. Behroozi and his team of nurses. 5 stars to them. Because I needed to stay for a few days and undergo a procedure, I was taken care of by additional specialists, nurses and medical assistants, and they were all great. That includes the operating room section. My anesthesiologist saw my name and sang Erykah Badu's classic to me, lol. I know not many will believe me when I say this, but the food was actually good. Better than I expected it to be. As far as the cons goes, I would say it's just the standard stuff. Long waits for certain tests.... because of the treatment protocol I was on, I was woken up every 2 hours for vitals and every few hours for blood draws, etc. But let's be realistic, I came to a hospital because I was having health problems and I needed help. Getting help requires figuring out what's wrong, and the only way to do that is through testing. Was the process uncomfortable at times...yes. Did the Dr.'s and Nurse's do everything to make the process as comfortable for me as possible...yes. And from talking with some of my co-workers after I got out and went back to work, they also said that Memorial was the best ER to go to. I very much understand that Dr's and Nurse's are in the people business, and not everyone is the easiest person to deal with, and that includes patients, and after having been there for a few days, I know that what they do isn't easy. I'm thankful for everyone that helped me get better. Thank you Memorial staff! Keep up the great work! It was great, but I hope that I won't have to return to the hospital for...
Read moreI'd give it less if it allowed me to! (At the time) Came into hospital as a last chance effort after someone had stolen the last of my medication causing me to go into sever withdrawal, blood pressure within stroke range, extremely sick, without so much as even a urinalysis the doctor told me they would do nothing for me they weren't even willing to give me a Tylenol to help me . Not sure if they even bothered to check any record but if they had they mig n7ht have seen that I had suffered a severe subdural hematoma after falling from a third story window causing intense an recurring migraines effecting memory and coordination amongst other things . To let a patient walk out of there care in that condition to drive away in the middle of a storm was irresponsible and disheartening . It was absolutely disgusting the way they handled the situation. later come to find out i hear they treat anyone with a substance abuse history this way . The funny thing is I was taking medicine to stay away from the stuff ,which has been a multitude of years since I had used any street level opiates, it was Suboxone that I asked for and I only asked for a few not a whole script worth. I would have easily went to see my currently subscribing doctor but unfortunately they had suspended me from the Savannah Clinic (SMG) because of a $65 outstanding balance that they were supposed to take out of my account in the beginning of the month but failed to do so and when I got there at my regularly scheduled appointment I didn't have the money in the account any longer & I couldn't afford to pay my bill at which point they said I'd have to pay in full and reschedule. So anyway through the grace of God and by the skin of my teeth I made it through it and I'll be sure not to make the same mistake twice. Make no mistake about it in no way does that experience reflect my view of this great and beautiful state or its people . People can suck where ever you go even in places where God was obviously heavy handed in his wonderful creation. We all make mistakes and the lord knows I do everyday the only fact that matters is we learn from them. I will continue to work on mine & I pray the lord will help revel theirs to them. Doc I...
