Costa Verde — Restaurant in Sayreville

Went there on new year's eve and it was a horrible experience. We sat in the bar area in a booth we waiting almost 10 mins before we finally had a server come over to us. She took our drink order and our food order. The music was unusually very loud that night so we ask the sever if they could lower it for us due to us having someone with us who was hard of hearing and couldn't understand us. She said yes there is a bartender who likes the music very loud but she would let them know to turn it down. After she brought our drinks to us we didn't see her the rest of the night. They had turned down the music alittle but as we went on it got turned back up even louder so we asked again to please turn down the music we are not in the club they did but only for about 2 mins and it was back up loudly again. We ended up waiting for our food for about 2 hours. We did speak to the manager but he was no help to us. Our sever never came back to refill our drinks at all there was a another server helping a table behind us we waved him down and got very nasty with yelling at us saying "I'll be right with you!!" Talk about Rude he came to us we asked him for some more to drink. He refilled our drinks but he wasnt nice to us at all. We finally got our food but it was cold. No one would be bother with us so we all ate cold food. Once we got done our originally server never came back to us she was too busy being friendly with some people she knew at the bar and she was serving them instead once we were done with our food we Waited another 30 mins before we finally went back to the manager and said who is our server and are we getting a check. Everyone there at the bar had no idea who was taking care of us so we got the check and they had ended up charging us for refills on our sodas. Which the originally girl told us they were free refills. So they took it back the guy working the bar who kept the music loud all night came back over to us to argue with us about that we were complaining about being charged for 4 more refills. He was yelling at us saying "well you are going to make a big deal about a $1.50 soda just take it out it of my tip!!" Talk about a terrible night and we were treated like we were the plague or something. So no one got a tip and let just say we will never ever be going back to this place. It a restaurant not a club if we had wanted loud music we would gone to the club not to an eating venue. So I short if you wanted he treated like a jerk and yelled at you will enjoy this place if not take your business somewhere else trust me you will thank me later unless you are a regular than to will have nothing to worry about they love there regulars more than having new clients. Worst experience...

Went out for dinner with my family last night. Sat down already had a dirty glass. Ordered a penne butter for my daughter, (they didn’t have penne) so I got a spaghetti butter, came overcooked she took a few bites. We love cocktails, especially to try different drinks since we work on the food / bar industry. I ordered a sangria, i could only taste bitter wine and orange juice. Also ordered a Bullet old fashioned, and we got muddled cheap cherries and cherry juice with no bitters. Asked the waiter for simple syrup. He said they don’t carry that, when it was written down on the ingredients for the cocktail. We asked what he uses he said sugar packets. Tried a dirty martini kettle (my favorite drink) it didn’t taste like no martini only alcohol and ; 1 olive instead of 3 , I had a sip. For apps we tried the garlic shrimp, it was alright. The clams in a green sauce was very good. For entree i got my favorite meal of all time I always order at a Portuguese restaurant , Chicken Francaise ; for this dish I had to ask for extra extra lemons ,No seasoning at all For the lobster tail we had that was 55.95$ not worth it , had to ask for old bay and more lemons , also no seasoning. The rice for both dishes was good. The veggies no salt. For desert we ordered the brownie with ice cream, and that was the best out of the whole dinner. You can’t go wrong with dessert. For our meal we love the desert drinks always a expresso martini, and I was surprised; had no foam at all , not creamy, no texture. But it had the 3 coffee beans lol. Last but not least one of us had to go up to the bar and ask for a drink and show the bartender how to make it. Service was good, waiter was also good. It was empty, only 1 table when we were there. The bill was 173$ Still tipped 20% the waiter, because it’s not his fault. Even though we told him about our drinks, he asked if we wanted it off the bill but we refused. We just suggest you get some one who really knows how to bartend. And for the food really disappointing because as per a Portuguese spot the food should always be 100% It will be the last time I go, but for who ever went and had a great time I wish I had the same. Not worth my 173$ plus tip. I’d 100% go to Fernandez...

So myself and my wife decided to stop here today for lunch walking in first impression the place is out of date and had a really bad funky smell of almost moldy The outside of the restaurant had cracking on the façade of the building we were greeted not so friendly by a guy that barely spoke English sat down for at least 10 to 15 minutes before we even got our drink order taken. The menus that were handed to us were dingy and dirty with grease stains on the pages in hand written prices The restaurant Decour is like from the 90s and he’s a be updated. As for food and drink we ordered a picture of sangria and I’ll be honest I can find better sangria in a box then they make it wasn’t all that great definitely had a lot better our food I ended up sending one of the dishes back the it tasted horrible.For our main course for lunch my wife ordered the chicken in garlic sauce and the garlic sauce was like a brown and slimy gravy it wasn’t horrible but it deafly was not great I ordered the shrimp in yellow rice with a side of garlic sauce the shrimp and yellow rice had just no flavor nor seasoning to it I would say the presentation of the food looked really good But it either it was cooked wrong or just had no flavor whatsoever I hate to leave bad reviews because it can hurt restaurants but honestly I would not ever go back there again nor recommend this place whatsoever we were even sitting right next to the couple that had a really bad experience with the menu and the pricing to do a lunch special issue and the restaurant staff was basically talking very nasty about the couple Which was not professional on their part so once again I hate to leave a bad review but this place is way out of date and not worth your money more time avoid going here plenty of other Portuguese...
