Gallery — Local services in Scarborough

Attempted to go here for a haircut, but it wasn't meant to be. Gallery Hair Design was recommended to me by one of their customers so I decided to stop by to see if they accepted walk-ins. I pulled up and parked right in front of the windows to the left (my left looking in) of the entrance. There were 2 female barbers standing and talking while the blonde female barber cut someone's hair. I couldn't see the customer at all so it is only a guess that she was cutting someone's hair based on the movement of her hands. For all I know she is a next-level mime and she was demonstrating her skill to her co-worker. I decided to call them to ask about walk-ins and so I dialed them up. When the phone first rang on my end the female barber that was not cutting a customer's hair or expertly miming the cutting of hair moved to a chair directly in front of the window and opposite of me. I expected her to answer the phone, but oddly she didn't and after 6 to 8 rings the answering machine picked up. The recorded voice went through it's spiel and contained within that monologue was the information that they are not accepting new customers at this time, but maybe someday in the future they would be. Now that is all fine and dandy, I understand that. What I don't understand is a business ignoring a ringing phone during business hours. The blonde female barber was otherwise occupied and unable to answer the phone, but the other one deliberately sat down and ignored the phone. That I don't understand. That is poor customer service. Does she ignore all incoming calls? How many established customers has she angered by not answering the phone when they called? How many customers has she cost Gallery Hair Design by not answering the phone? These are all legitimate questions and business concerns. Anyway, I did not get a haircut so I am not able to speak as to the quality of cut that is provided there. What I can speak to is the absent customer service. Based on that alone I would not recommend their services which is unfortunate for all of the other barbers working there because they may be fantastic haircutters. Best haircut I’ve gotten in 4 years! I’ve been trying to find a salon and stylist that can listen to what I want and make it happen! I get a high-low cut and it’s never drastic enough.
