My wife and I are somewhat of milk tea enthusiasts. We have had milk tea all over Asia and USA, even in Taiwan. We were excited that a new place opened up right next to HMart. We need better milk tea places in Chicago, especially in the burbs so we were hopeful. We waited to get it bc everytime we went, there was a line out the door, in single digit weather! The hype was real.
We made an effort on a Tuesday night to go and finally no line. First of all, when I walk into a place with milk tea, I expect certain smells, sweetness and tea. It was missing. I also noticed their drinks looked so pretty. Like gimmicky pretty. Am I buying food or a table decor piece? I get that food should also look pretty but it was a little too gimmicky for me.
They gave us the drink in a glass which was cool but I would rather my money go to a better drink or more drink. They offer 10% off if u bring ur mason jar back. If they are working on sustainability, great! I use a metal boba straw to do my part too. I wonder what storage issues these cups give them.
Anyways, I was really trying to be fair bc like I said the hype was real. We got the coffee milk tea and banana milk tea. Overall, not enough tea taste. We have had much better elsewhere even in Chicago. Actually, I think Umbrella down the street is the best we have in this area besides Elitea. Just make good drinks. No one cares about the cup or that it looks cool. Dont make it look ugly but in the end, it is the taste that will draw repeating customers not an instagram photo.
I gave 3 stars for this reason. No boba place is Chicagoland will get 5 stars. 4 stars are for places that are better than average. 3 stars is average. This place is better than the bad ones that I know around here but not a place that I would repeatedly come to on purpose. $15 for 2 drinks with one topping plus tip is kind of crazy for what we got. Is there a way I can return my cup and get some money back without having to buy...
Read moreLet me preface by saying this is a smaller location, so don’t expect a Starbucks type wait area. Other than that, this place is amazing! Between the aesthetics of the atmosphere and the quality of the drinks, they’re one of the best places in the area that I know of! I routinely drive the 25min to get here because of how great it is! I love how the menu contains a lot of different types of drinks, so you’re not just limited to milk tea type drinks. Like mentioned above, the appearance of the drinks match the taste of them! I’ve come here countless times, during both busy and calm hours, and never once had a quality issue. The interior design is simple, yet effective. You’re not overwhelmed with different colored walls everywhere, with artwork splayed randomly to fill up empty spaces, you have the menu wall that visually shows you what each drink looks like, and the logo wall that makes a cute photo op! The employees here are all amazing too. Durry is my favorite by far! All employees keep a professional yet friendly attitude and are happy to help with any questions or any drink substitutions! The ordering system is great too. You can either order on the tablets yourself without having to converse if you’re not wanting to, or you can order the standard way through the baristas. The reusable returnable glass cups are an amazing idea to help combat plastic cup waste, and you get a discount when you bring them back! If you forget to, they’re great for making iced coffees at home too! All in all, this place is amazing, I would 100%...
Read moreLet me start by saying that ive been to this location multiple times before with that said this was the first bad experience. I had just come in and was excited to use my brand new one piece flask that I had bought online as a set for $60 and I had assumed that I could bring it in and use it for just drink well I check out with the one of the 2 lady's and she never told me that she couldn't put the drink in it and didn't say that I would be getting a new glass and she gave me the 10% discount and everything the other girl thought it was cool too and she brought it to the guy in the back to show. Now I had waited for my drink and I see that I'm given a new glass and the guy gave it to me so I ask what happened to my cup and he told me that I returned the glass. I had told him that's not what I did and said I wanted it in the glass I brought then he told me that he can't do that. I was very upset and then he said if he was to give the glass back I needed to pay him 75 cents. So I did pay him the 75 cents back got my glass back and left. I'm not sure but it seemed to me and my friend that I walked in with that he was trying to steal my glass. I hope that this is the first and last time that this happens to me and that this doesn't happen to anyone else. One thing I would change is make sure your cashiers tell people that they will not get the glass back and that they are...
