We we had seen excellent reviews online and decided to visit this place to try Maharashtra and cuisine from the menu online to what they have in the store. A lot of things have changed and menu online does not match up ( no puran poli and couple other items). Even from the menu in the store, they were not serving quite a few items like dosa. the of the different types of doses. We finally ended up ordering sabudana wada, pao bhaji, misal pao and couple of desserts. We were told about 10 to 15 minutes for the food. We waited for around 25 minutes before reminding them again and were told that this type of weight is common. Sabudana vada eventually showed up 35 minutes after and other items took another 10 minutes. Misal was stale. When we told them, they exchanged it and got us another bowl of stale misal. With pao bhaji, pao was good but bhaji was cold and when reported they said we had to wait for pao to ready so may be bhaji got colder. We were not the only ones with this experience as almost everyone around had similar complaints. We learnt that the ownership had changed with which the folks quality has gone downhill. Desserts we had ordered were really good but outside that it was a waste and we ended up stopping by the Mediterranean grill next to it to get a sandwich.
Overall, the lady at the counter was really rude and was absolutely not apologetic about serving stale food or the delay in service. A smile and empathy towards your customers when you are running late and not serving quality food would go a long way.
I would be very cautious and please do not go by the older reviews if you decide to visit this place. Overall, this is one of the worst experience I have had in US and worst in...
Read moreThis was my second visit to Turmerica, and unfortunately, it was just as disappointing as the first. Still, as a Maharashtrian, I have a special love for Marathi food, which is why I decided to give it another chance.
First, there was no one at the counter to take my order. I stood there for 15 minutes ringing the bell. Two people saw me from inside, but they chose to ignore me.
I finally managed to place my order: one Chilly Chicken, one Thalipeeth, one Cheese Dosa, one Coffee, and one Solkadi.
Even after 25 minutes, they were still "preparing" the order. I requested them to serve the Dosa first since it was for a child. Instead, they brought tea instead of coffee—and the tea was cold, probably sitting out for too long. The Chilly Chicken had a strong fishy smell and tasted like fish.
The Thalipeeth was extremely disappointing. As a Maharashtrian, Thalipeeth is my comfort food—and what they served was an insult. It was just a dry besan chapati with methi. Dear Turmerica owner, please open YouTube and search for a proper Maharashtrian Thalipeeth recipe. Learn how to cook before serving something like this.
We were still waiting for the Dosa for our 3-year-old, even after repeatedly asking. After almost an hour wasted, a barely cooked Dosa finally arrived with a light touch of cheese—far from what was promised.
Honestly, if this restaurant doesn’t survive, I won’t be surprised. The owner needs to learn how to cook before running a restaurant. I gave this place a second chance and regret...
Read moreI left this place utterly disappointed. Honestly, I’m shocked to see all the glowing reviews because my experience was nowhere near 5 stars. My wife, a few friends, and I (four couples in total) visited this past Saturday. It wasn’t even busy—just two other tables occupied—yet what we experienced was nothing short of a disaster.
The food was consistently below expectations:
The fish fry was bland, and the accompanying sauce was downright unpleasant.
Their so-called “Pulao” was nothing like pulao. It was clearly a vegetable biryani, and only after confronting them did the name shift to “Maharashtrian pulao vat.” If that’s what it is, then call it that on the menu. To make matters worse, portion sizes were wildly inconsistent—as if a child was arbitrarily scooping out servings.
The Tom Yum soup was so salty it was almost inedible.
At what Bengali restaurant do you get such a meager portion of rice? It was laughable.
Service was even more frustrating. We ordered two of their “special” Marathi thalis. One arrived 30 minutes late, and the other never came at all. After waiting 45 minutes, I went to the counter to ask, and they assured me it would be out “in minutes.” Another 20 minutes passed—still nothing. By then, we had waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for a simple thali that never arrived. That level of disorganization is unacceptable.
All in all, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. Inconsistent food, careless service, and an overall lack of professionalism.
AVOID THIS PLACE...
