I went to the course yesterday for fathers day golf outing with my kids and my friend and his 6 year old son, who was just coming to ride in the cart with his father. Upon checking in, the person behind the counter said its $18 for the boy just to ride the cart! That is insane. Anyways, my friend and his son left as he has been to many courses and this was never an issue.
I decided to stay with my 2 kids. I said I'm paying for 3 the man said only 2 to a cart and you have to be 18 years old to drive. He said one of the kids has to walk. I said so I have drive with one kid and the other has to walk? He said yes. I said I've been here many times and its never an issue. He said insurance won't allow it. I said I've been there and its never been a problem. He said I must have come after hours on a weekday and its ok during junior hours and rates. I said so there is different coverage at different times? All BS!!! I said I've also been there during the weekends and hasn't been a problem. He said he works all weekends, basically implying I was lying. His attitude was rude and condescending. This is all in front of my two kids. I said fine, we'll just stay and one of the kids will walk. He then said ok, but they have to pay full price with cart since the walking rate doesn't start till later. So I had to pay for one of my kids to walk, because I was forced to and then had to pay full rate for that child with cart even though they can't be in cart! The worst golf course I have ever been too!
We decided to stay and still play since it was fathers day. As we approached the first hole, the group in front of us was waiting to tee off. The man in the club house radios the starter and says that a group of 3, with one adult and two juniors are going to be teeing off and they know they can't have 3 to cart, but they will try to! I lost my mind as this was loud for everyone to hear that he is questioning my integrity in front of my kids. This is fathers day and instead of just saying enjoy your day with your kids, I was treated rudely, disrespected and insulted.
Needless to say, I will never go back and highly urge people not to go to this course as they have zero manners and don't care for people or what people think. The worst golf...
Read moreTL;DR - Overall a great wedding venue for a great price; just remember that it’s also a golf club, and you will have to compete with that on your wedding day.
We held our wedding at Bridges of Poplar Creek in October 2022. The planning process was relatively smooth, with Jennifer being a fantastic communicator and helper (especially with a great eye for detail). The outdoor ceremony space is gorgeous, especially in fall when the leaves are turning; we lucked out and got the weekend when the largest trees on either side of the altar/gazebo were beautifully bright red! For dinner, we did the pretzel chicken + filet combo (yes, pretzel chicken is a thing, and it’s fantastic), as well as pasta and salmon (the real dark horse winner of the night) for those who preferred it. We still continue to receive plenty of compliments on how beautiful everything was, indoors & outdoors, as well as how great the food tasted!
So the reason this review isn’t 5-stars is because of the challenges we faced with pre-ceremony photos. Clearly, this is a country club and golf course. We knew this going in. However, it wasn’t communicated to us until too late that we would pretty much be actively competing with golfers for time on the grounds for photos. The day of, we had to wait around for the golfing director to give us approval to go about 50 yards away from the main hall to take photos on a bridge, and then were hurried back to let the golfers play through. When we were planning the day, this was not communicated clearly to us, so we did not set this expectation with our wedding parties or media team. We ended up with very rushed party photos, and we had effectively no say in where those photos took place. It would have been nice to have had this expectation clearly set from the beginning, and to have a better idea of exactly when and where we would have the chance to take photos anywhere besides the main hall itself.
Overall, we’d definitely recommend using Bridges of Poplar Creek for your wedding! Just learn from our experience, and make sure you’re having early and frequent conversations with the staff about how your big day’s timeline will be...
Read moreWe had our wedding reception at Poplar Creek and the whole evening went so smoothly! Everything from the first email I sent to Jennifer to cleaning up after the reception was perfectly taken care of. Jennifer responded to my emails very quickly and answered all of my questions. She is so sweet! I had a couple last minute changes with how many people were coming to the wedding and it was no problem; I even had a change the day of and they took care of it right away. The food was fantastic and many of our guests have told me they loved it! It is well worth the price. Everything the day of was on time. The bakery Poplar Creek works with is wonderful as well. The tasting there was so fun and they made such a beautiful cake! My husband and I couldn’t decide which filling we liked better, so they did half the cake with one filling and half with the other at no extra fee (cake is included with booking poplar creek, they’re not just a prefered vendor).
A few tips:
Certain days/time of the year may be better if you cannot afford the minimum. Just ask if there’s anything they can do. Our wedding was on a Sunday and that was much better for our budget than a Friday.
The one thing I wish I had done differently is ask them to set aside two of each appetizer so my husband and I could have tried all of them since we were late to...
