Jo Jo's Restaurant — Restaurant in Schaumburg Township

Probably the most disappointing and unappetizing restaurant experience I’ve ever had.

We went for a late breakfast. I ordered poached eggs and an English muffin. Pretty simple, or so one would assume. The eggs were hard boiled and ice cold. They had obviously been cooked earlier in a large batch, and left sitting too long. They were served 7 minutes before the muffin, which was barely browned, hard, and also ice cold. I returned the order and had it removed from the bill.

My daughter ordered a grilled cheese and fries. What she got was a couple slices of cheese slapped between 2 slices of bread, which were slathered with grease and thrown on the griddle just long enough for the grease to become runny. The bread never browned and the cheese never even warmed to room temperature, never mind actually melting. The fries were wilted and cold. Disgusting.

The restaurant was less than half full, go figure, and was clearly understaffed. The owner made the mistake of asking how everything was when we checked out, so I told her. She seemed shocked, and compensated us accordingly, but, rest assured,we will not be going back. There are entirely too many other place in the same area to risk a repeat experience. I would give zero...

Rude service, average tasting food at best. Let me lay out my review for you. I had a take out order.

When I arrived to the restaurant, I said “Hi I have a take out order.” Before I could say my name, the lady just shook her head in question and asked, “ok name?” I mean, it would’ve been nice to actually felt welcomed to the restaurant with a nice response such as “ hi sure what’s the name?”

Also, my all informed me the food was ready, the lady at the front desk simply just said well it’s not ready. I don’t mind if food isn’t ready but was expecting something like “hey sure it’s going be a few more minutes.” That’s all, just friendly service.

Now onto the food. I ordered two chicken panini sandwiches.

Bread was super soggy. Chicken was bland, no spices or seasoning. Outside of salt, I wonder if they actually put effort into seasoning the meat. The chicken was also tough, not soft at all. The one positive I’ll give is that the portions are big.

Fill transparency, there are much better options out there with friendlier service that actually welcome you to the restaurant plus tastier sandwiches....

Excellent service and food. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because of their non-handicapped stall in bathroom. Only 2 regular stalls. A wheelchair person could not use it. I had to leave my walker half-in and half-out sideways and the stall door open. Not fun to be exposed.

Here it is, March 2, 2023. We came back due to the delicious food and excellent service. Still exactly true! Our waitress, Katie, was perfection. She seemed to anticipate our needs as we were thinking them. Very pleasant and efficient, with a friendly smile. And where most service people ignore you once you're given the check, she actually came back around at one point to offer coffee refills! A huge plus in my book! (Side note - still no resolution regarding the handicapped bathroom stalls. Again I had to leave door open and push my walker sideways to go in. Walker halfway out, and I am not fond of having to leave door open, exposing me to view by anyone coming in.) We will, however, come back, due to the excellent food...
