My coworkers and I placed a takeout order for breakfast for the first time. My order was the menu item "Cakes and Eggs". The order comes with "a short stack of pancakes, eggs how you like, and 2 sausage links" for $6.99. "How would you like the eggs done?" was the only question, so everything seemes correct and moved on to the next order. When we were given the totals ot seemed pretty pricey, but expected there was a surcharge of some kind for takeout. No in fact the server who took the order took ala carte orders. So literally pancakes ($6) and eggs ($2). I paid more money for less food, when what I wanted was the combo. I figured perhaps the server was not familiar with their menu, so I called back to correct the issue. After all, another coworker was charged $1.59 for toast that was expected to come with the meal. We were told we should have ordered by the menu item number and not the name of the menu item, so it was our fault. The server put 3 pancakes in ala carte, despite never being told anything specific other than "cakes and eggs". This establishment needs to work on their menu naming conventions and their customer service. A happy morning was made very sour by this interaction....
Read moreThe restaurant and I were both born in 1950. When I was a kid/teen, my parents and I would stop there a few times a year on our way from our home in Clintonville to our hunting cabin in Tomahawk. The clock always stood out in my mind. And the food was very good. I assumed that the restaurant created Log Cabin Syrup. Not quite. Oh, well. Nothing stays the same. The clock has been in storage for 20 years. And I feel badly that the 29 bypass took away a lot of their pass-by business. Anyway, I took the downtown route and stopped in there last night, on my way home from a business trip. The restaurant is still delightful. Staff very attentive. And the 8.53 Senior meals (9.00 on the head, including tax) are very generous. Entree. Mashed potatoes, but they let me substitute fries. Coleslaw, but they let me substitute applesauce. Fresh, hot dinner roll, and soft butter. Mountain Dew from the fountain. And a dish of ice cream. All for less than most places would charge for mozzarella...
Read moreI do enjoy the food here, and the dessert options/selections are actually very impressive and are also quite tasty as well. The building is, as the name suggests, an actual, and rather large, log cabin. To date, I have never, as of yet, had a negative experience with any of the employees nor have I encountered an employee that was anything, but pleasant and helpful. This is an establishment that is conducive to, family day/night out, family functions such as birthday parties, anniversary lunches and/or dinners, and family reunion lunches and dinners, just to mention a few. This, family friendly, restaurant does offer a small selection of beers, is competitively priced, and, as I stated earlier, the dessert selection is quite impressive. The only reason why I only gave them 3 stars is simply because of the fact that I have eaten there so many times in the past that the only menu items I really enjoy anymore are their breakfast items. And even many of them I now...
