The restaurant is very bright and welcoming but unfortunately that was the highlight of my experience. The food was very lackluster. Polenta fries were far too salty to be edible. Caesar salad was adequate (nothing mind blowing), shucked oysters were ridden with shell fragments, and the steak frites were underwhelming. Steak was very clearly a cheap cut of meat, quite grissel-ey and tough despite being cooked medium rare. The pork loin was probably the best plate of food- pork was tender but accompaniments left a lot to be desired. For the upscale vibe Oro puts out, the quality of food did NOT match. Service was also very mediocre. Our server tended to our table infrequently and at the end of the meal, was left wondering if sheâd return to deliver the check (waited 15 min for her to reappear after she asked if we were ordering dessertâŚwe were not. We did not explicitly ask for the check, but an experienced server would have known to bring it out as we had concluded our dining experience).
Summary- nice looking restaurant, very underwhelming food, highly inexperienced servers equate to an expensive meal that just...
Read moreOur fave local place is slipping. This is the third time we've had an issue with the either the food or the service or both. This is the second time one of our party had ordered one of their signature cocktails, only to be told they've run out of a key ingredient: last time it was the Strawberry Jive, this time it was the cucumber juice for a martini. There are only a dozen specials on the cocktail menu, they should never run out. Tonight's clam chowder had only three clams and a ton of bacon and other fillers; the bread was burned and when I told our waitress, she did nothing, literally responded in no way at all. The hostess brought fresh bread after my friend mentioned it again, but dinner was pretty much done by then. All four dinners were very slow in coming... about 45 minutes, which seems to be the norm these days for Oro (last time was an hour). We are disappointed in the decline and hope things will improve, but it's been since last fall that things have been going downhill, so we're...
Read moreWhat a disappointing evening at Oro ! My first time in this restaurant. Had great expectations and ok memories from the restaurant on front street. Menu tonight was surprisingly very limited. And a couple items were not available. Only one cooked fish on menu, surprising for a âseafood restaurantâ. It was salmon that we eat frequently at home so we passed. One of us had steak. 2nd order was chicken. They did not care for their order at all. Did not taste but presentation was poor. I had the Cesar salad with (boiled/poached ?) chicken. Zero flavor. I wonder who the âchefâ is because he would not last one minute on chopped lol. Service was ok and you could tell that our waitress was a bit overworked. Patrons at bar seemed happy enough. Maybe it is a place to go for drinks and snacks because the food is NOT worth your...
