Two Doors — Restaurant in Scotts Valley

Spent about $350 the past 2 or 3 weeks there. This area seems to be the area I want to move to. So chill and laid back... the ocean works wonders here to me. Lost my soul mate almost 34 years to the date and felt and saw my spirit leave me. Nothing has helped. Staying at monasteries twice a year for 5 to 10 days at a time singing psalms and praying 7 times a day starting at 330 am is nice little respites. The past 4 months I have been getting to know a woman and open up a bit and build Heaven on earth connection again and it's a bit ironic that she had just given me her number and we were exchanging texts. oh myyy... my mind body beat and soul is healing... just like that. I ordered a beer from the table... she poured it and I met her at the bar immediately. Back to my reading and maybe? some more texts. I got the barkeepers attention later fur another beer and... was she having issue with me ordering a beer from the table meeting he at the bar when she had time to pour? I watched...wow. I went up and quietly said that was the uncoolest barkeeping I had witnessed in my 60 years of life and how I was looking forward to their unbelievable green curry the large one with an otder of veggies to but now? Well I just have her my card. 4 seconds later she came back and looked me in the eye and said...I got it. I got your tab. From the uncoolest to the ... well it was just nice and went back to my table thinking how I'd now order that delicious green curry. Next thing I know patrons were coming up two at a time ordering me to tell them what happened saying they didn't want to take me outside and beat me up. What??? Barkeeper and I said our apologies to each other... what's going on? looked at her....aah. the 2 guys go through the bar saying call the police on him? manager comes to me saying this and saying that and in no way could I begin to defend myself. I went to the bar to try and talk to her and I saw the barkeep on the phone. The feeling was she was calling the police. I resigned with a sigh feeling I would leave then the Mgr said something to the effect of pay your bill and go. I looked at the barkeep... you didn't take care of my bill? manager wouldn't let me she said. I give this place 5 stars because... my previous 6 or 7 times the past 3 weeks had been great. it's my favorite place. And while yes some ugliness happened... the patrons still kept everything low key in a way. But also? we all have roles to play in life and they come from places you would least expect. I believe we all learn. I learned...I need to protect a happiness that I feel I might be closer to much better. And for the barkeep? pour the darn beer when you have a moment and plop out on the bar with a yo like any other barkeep had done in my life. Anyways... the place is a very nice neighborly bar with open garage doors cold beer some good hamburgers and unbelievable green curry stew. highly recommend the place. I look forward to...

Sad that we wasted a trip here. Based on the 4.5 star rating, I am extremely dissatisfied. I ordered a cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato. I was excited for the potato bun as potato bread is usually fluffy and delicious. This was a dry crusty bun. They claim to cook burgers medium and this was well done, dry, and tasteless. The cheese was even dry! How is cheese dry? So underwhelming. I really haven’t had a burger this bad in quite awhile. 😣

The side salad comes with beans and beets. I wish that was more obvious. It’s not usual ingredients so I had to pick my salad apart.

My partner ordered the cheesesteak. The only flavor was from the peppers. There was hardly any cheese and the au jus was pale and flavorless as well. I see that another review said the same thing about the au jus.

There was no clear signage to indicate whether to wait for a hostess or seat yourself. We asked the bar and were told to seat ourselves and order at the bar. That’s fine but having to wander around to get someone to even tell us that was annoying.

Even the shirley temple we ordered was flat. I really don’t know how this place has a great rating. Perhaps the patrons are reviewing while drunk or perhaps things have been going downhill. Either way, I can’t say anything redeeming about this place other than a nice aesthetic. It’s a cool looking bar at least. 🤷‍♀️

Redeeming qualities are that the front of house staff/service are awesome, atmosphere is great, and the menu is fun. When we first started coming here a few years ago, the food was so good that it made up for the menu prices, totally worth the cost. About a year ago we started to notice that every once in a while our orders would have something messed up about them (something really soggy or overcooked, etc. even if picked up immediately after it’s ready, wait time is always short), but sometimes it would still be great! We don’t come as often anymore because it started being a toss up, but now it seems like it’s the last 4 or so times in a row that everything is just cooked very badly. Extremely overcooked dry items etc and it’s just not worth the price anymore. I think that there should really be a reconsideration of someone in the kitchen, or a training...
