Scotty's Drive-In — Restaurant in Scottsbluff

I've been coming here for years and it has never disappointed. Once the new owners took over and renovated the place I was worried things would change. I heard from locals that things had in fact changed, and not for the better. If you read through some of the other reviews you might come to the same conclusion. I went and saw for myself this past weekend and was very surprised. The renovations to the interior and exterior are bright, colorful and fun. The staff was friendly and helpful. And since my family doesn't get to Scottsbluff very often I had to sample all my favorites from the menu to make sure it still held up to my memory. The Tasty Taverns were delicious, the fries and mushrooms were wonderful, and the burgers were excellent. I even sampled a glacier for the first time, and it will not be the last. Perhaps the beef has changed slightly, but it is not for the worse I can assure you. This place has been a staple in town for a long time, and I hope it remains. It would be a shame if disgruntled locals ruin this institution simply because new ownership improved some things because it would leave Scottsbluff without a local restaurant that provides traditional American drive-in food, and all that would be left in town is the same slop you can get anywhere else. Scotty's... a legend now in the Scottsbluff comfort food scene. Have never a bad meal here over the years and usually it's good service, although occasionally a hired hand will take your order in, shall we say, a somewhat curt and less-than-friendly way. No biggie really, though whenever this happens (and it doesn't happen all that often) it IS annoying... especially when a person such as myself who's living on a small, fixed monthly income comes in to have a "treat" instead of cooking as I nearly always do. Not enough of a problem to ding Scotty's too badly in the rating because I genuinely like this business, always looking forward to having a little extra pocket change for the month to eat at Scotty's. Hopefully they'll be here for years to come. I'll be glad when the dining room re-opens after the virus peters out. With all of the Covidiots out here it doesn't give me much hope that it'll be...

Used to be considered a 5 star restaurant in my eyes, now, not so much. I think the new owners cut corners on the quality beef the old owners obtained, maybe they use a different grill or prepare the patties differently, but the burgers are not the same. Now i can hardly get one accurately ordered, scotties used to never mess up our order, but now its a gamble just like taco bell or McDonalds, but hopefully not with the mindset of serving overpriced, mediocre food behind a company name! Sure the fries, burritos, and shakes are good, but as mentioned in other reviews, the burgers need more quality inspection, maybe some guidance from the old owners on how they prepped / cooked them.
