El Rancho Viejo — Restaurant in Scottsbluff

The food is really good. It's different than everyplace else in town, fresher, not just green chili, rice, beans tortilla. It's got a lot of flavor and it's well presented and reasonably priced.

The service is ATROCIOUS. I've been 4 times and every time it's something. One time we sat and waited 5 minutes to be seated (it wasn't busy, there was no one in the front of house, we finally just left and went somewhere else). Today we ordered an appetizer and it just never showed up. Here come our entrees. Ummmmm where's the appetizer? not at all. At least they didn't try to charge us). It's not busy, it's not rocket science and it's nothing special, there's no reason for it to be this bad and certainly not at this price level.

The food was delicious, I was surprised that the chili relleno still had the seeds in it, and the meat was served on top with the Blanco queso This made them a bit spicier than other dishes of the same name and substance, but as I said, it was delicious. The chimichanga(?) Was perfect crispy on the outside with the traditional white cheese on top and ground beef inside .I always pair these two together for what I consider to be the best al carte combo! My S.O. had a steak/ shrimp combo that came with rice and French fries. Don't forget you get great chips and salsa, too. So much food, we always have to take some home. The bar section has grown by leaps and bounds since the last time I was here. So I would have to give El Rancho Viejo an A+ for our dining experience this evening. No issue with food or our server. I did however explain to the cashier that they overcharged me. I ordered what they had on special and was charged regular price. When I brought it to her attention she looked at me and said sorry with an attitude. Kind of like “you can go now”. Normally I would have had her do it over because of her immature response and complete lack of customer service. Fortunately for her I had a ridiculously long day at work and was exhausted.
