Tate's Bar-B-Que — Restaurant in Scottsboro

My bf and I are stymied as to how they managed to derive all fat from the 2lbs of pulled pork (aka simply very large chunks) we got. Never have I had watery, anemic, flavorless BBQ like this before. Somehow all the fat was.... Gone? The provided 'sauce' was Red Water. No observable spices, or even aroma. We did carryout service and ate it after a 25min drive home, so no opportunity to send it back or speak w them about any alternatives. Uncertain if this is a true representative of Alabama BBQ or not, but it's $22.34's worth of disappointment to us. There was a line of about 6 cars on a rainy Saturday, so assuming this is at least acceptable to the locals. As an aside, we asked if we could have 2 forks...they said utensils were provided w meals.... I offered to pay... He said he didn't knowbbecause they 'weren't on the menu'. I said how about a dollar. 'I guess'. Who guesses about 2 forks when you sell $22 worth of food? We were polite, prepared w what we wanted when we ordered. I can't imagine a business that can afford to be reluctant to give 2 plastic forks away....

Terrible experience. I'm never one to complain however was treated so disrespectful today. As a small business owner and customer this was extremely unacceptable. You never treat your customers rudely!!! I went to the window to place my order and the Owner opened the window, pointed and grunted at a sign they had made up about NOT RINGING THE BELL IF THERES A CUSTOMER AHEAD OF YOU, WAITING ON THEIR ORDER. Yes there were 3 cars in the line for drive through and 1 in her car actually eating so how was I to know, so I rang the bell. The OWNER THEN SLAMMED THE WINDOW DOWN IN MY FACE AND WALKED AWAY. If you hate your business this much maybe it's time you move on. And you wouldn't have this business if it were not for your customers. You can delete this review if you'd like however "word of mouth" is the best, or in this case worse form of advertisement. I do know so many ppl here in Scottsboro that patronize your business, however I'm more than sure we will give this a second thought. if this happened to me, I'm sure it's not...

My husband got me on this place, as I’ve worked at 3 restaurants (2 bbq) and we love it! But Michael served me, I could tell he was having a bad day, so me being me, tried to cheer him up, and let him know I understood. He was “tired”. It was like I made him even angrier. I HATE dissing anyone, it isn’t the restaurant, but Michael, get it together honey! I’ll pray for you and hope you have a better day tomorrow and better attitude daily. Or if you’re going through something bad, even though I said,” atleast you didn’t lose 3 family members since April, house burned, lost our 2 dogs… but 5 stars for Tate’s!!! ♥️ Hoping he has a better day tomorrow. 💙 You’ve got...
