This place has kind of an interesting location, situated next door to a pita joint and a Subway. The 3 restaurants in such close proximity reminds me a bit of a mall food court - and that's not intended as a dig. Instead, if you're with a couple people and you can't reach a consensus about where to go - this little edible enclave has something for everyone.
I live about 5 minutes from here and have been to the aforementioned pita spot a few times. Forgive me, i don't recall the name. Finally bopped into Scottsdale Burger Bar and I'm so glad I did.
We had 2 Impossible Burgers from the "build your own" menu. I had A-1, mayo, caramelized onions, lettuce, and tomato. My wife got something similar. I also opted for fried pickles while she was torn between the French fries and the fried zucchini. She asked the personable dude at the counter multiple questions and ultimately decided on the fries.
The counter guy noted this and when the fries came out, he thoughtfully and generously added some zucchini. We're jazzed he did because it was really good. It wasn't some old frozen fried bagged zucchini.. It was legit real deal breaded and fried fresh zucchini.
The food took about 10 minutes to come out. Why, you ask? BECAUSE THEY ACTUALLY PREPARED THE FOOD AND COOKED THE FOOD. They didn't assemble it from kits. The fries were hot and perfectly salted. The Impossible Burgers were grilled and everything was BOMBER!
The menu also featured regular burgers with nearly every imaginable topping, side options such as onion rings, Mac & cheese, loaded fries, and plenty more.
Look, this isn't fine dining. It's not a hole either. It's good burgers and sides - fresh. We're definitely going back and I could see this becoming a regular...
Read moreI ordered for the second time in two years from DoorDash. I didn't rate the last time because I felt it fair to try a second time before reviewing and got the same burger. The first time I made it to order but this time I saw they had one exactly the same called the Hangover and ordered. It came wrapped in foil reminiscent of Five Guys and the whole overall taste of the bacon cheeseburger with fried egg was fairly spot on, but I was disappointed by the fact that a place called the Burger Bar wouldn't allow me to choose my cooked preference. The fries were well cooked but very very few for the $5 add-on price, and they came with no condiments at all. Had they been seasoned that could have been excused, but they were not. That plus the fact that "The store has chosen not to accept special requests. Contact them directly with questions about their menus" means that you can't ask for them to be sure to include ketchup for the fries and mayo and mustard packets for the burger. Why would I spend premium money for food when I can't even ensure to get something to dip my fries in? I go out of my way to support local businesses despite the extra cost and get zero effort or aforethought.
Edit - since the owner decided to respond with an inaccurate and not to mention dismissive statement, here is the screenshot of what you see when you "scroll all the way down and click the special instructions button"
Always nice when you get an owner who likes to respond to comments. These responses from him are unhinged. Service just went down...
Read moreVery disappointed in the quality of the food I received. I placed an order for a turkey burger with cheese and french fries. Aside from it taking well over an hour to arrive via door dash...when it came it was COLD! Fries weren't even close to crisp. It was if they had been siting out on the counter then boxed up. Turkey burger was also cold, soggy and lacked any sort of discernable flavor. Definitely not worth the money. Frozen turkey burgers from Butterball taste better. Disgusting!
In response to the owner who told me to remove my honest review... It is not the fault of Door Dash that your burger had no flavor and the fries were undercooked. Nor is it their fault that my burger was smashed in the container. My review is a reflection of your food not door dash's delivery service and if you feel that it's DD's fault that your food was mediocre, then perhaps you should end your partnership with them. Instead of delivering excuses and getting mad at customers for their honesty, maybe you should look for ways to improve (that's kind of the point of having reviews). My review was an honest reflection of my experience and I will not...
