Our HOA had their annual Holiday Dinner at The Italian Daughter . The dinners are fun and a good way to meet neighbors and have a nice, relaxed evening. We had a prix fixe menu with selections for an appetizer , salad, main, and dessert. It was clearly understood the bar tab would be on us. When our server came to ask if there were any drink orders, 4 women ordered the house red, and my wife ordered the house white. When our bill came, there were 8 red wines at $25 each, and 2 white wines at $19 each. Hardly house wine prices. We called our server over and she told us they don't have a house wine and we specifically asked for the ZD Cabernet, their most expensive wine (they did not). We asked for the manager, who also insisted we specifically ordered the ZD. The women did not. We only had the prix fixe menu, no wine menus, so how would the women know what the options were. We ask Gino, the manager, if there were other options. He explained that they had a red for $12 a glass and a white for $10 a glass. We calmly told Gino that we should have been informed of the lower priced options. He insisted we specifically ordered the more expensive wines. We then told him it wasn't the price, but the principal, and that he now lost 10 future customers. He said he would adjust the bill to reflect the lower priced wines if that was acceptable. We thanked him, he took the bill and left. When the server came back with the bill, he took $50 off the bill, which was not what he said he would do. If he had done what he said he would do, he would have deducted $96 from the red wine total, and $18 from the white wine total for a total credit of $114. He was then, nowhere to be found. Never will I go back if that is his idea of customer service. He promised to fix the situation, and then he didn't follow through on what he promised. Sorry, but that is being deceptive. I'm sure they figured since we're from Scottsdale, we wouldn't check the prices. No issues with the price of the food or cocktails. Both were reasonably priced. But this is...

We came to celebrate a special birthday and had planned to visit the lounge since it was a no-reservations area. Upon checking in, we were told the wait would be no more than 15 minutes. However, after 30 minutes, we noticed other guests being seated while we were still waiting.
One of our party members uses a power wheelchair, and we couldn’t help but feel that this might have been the reason we kept getting passed over.
A second, older hostess with a major attitude arrived and repeatedly reminded us that other guests had reservations—even though we had already clarified that the lounge was supposed to be first-come, first-served. She never apologized for the delay but suddenly announced, “Okay, you’re next,” right before seating three more groups ahead of us.
Once we were finally seated, the waitress arrived to take our orders, but the hostess had left us with no menus.
To make matters worse, the server never brought bread and butter.
Our drinks arrived, and we placed our orders—only for the food to come out wrong. Instead of simply correcting the mistake, we got unnecessary comments about how we had supposedly ordered it wrong.
They brought a Caprese salad, yet neither the servers nor the waitress noticed that the tomatoes were completely unripe and hard as a rock. It looked like an albino Caprese salad.
It was one of those nights where you wish you had just stayed home.
At the end of the meal, the server boxed up our leftovers but carelessly mixed pasta with fish, ruining the meal for the vegetarian in our group—then placed all the takeout bags on the floor.
A floor where people walk, tracking in dirt and mud (especially since it was raining).
Birthday cake haha never even got to let the waitress know
It’s not to much to expect at least a decent dining experience. With so many great restaurants in this area, there’s no reason to put up with this level of...
Read moreWe had one of the most remarkable and unexpected experiences at The Italian Daughter a few weeks ago. It was a Sunday and we felt like some Saltimbocca and and Braised Short Rib Gnocchi. When I called in to order, the woman taking my order said that the online menu (downloaded version) had not been updated and the Saltimbocca was not available. She also told me that she had to check on the braised short rib, as she didn't think that was available either. After a short wait on hold, she confirmed the Saltimbocca could not be prepared, but I could have the short rib gnocchi. I said we would take the chicken parmigiana, since we couldn't have the Saltimbocca and jokingly, I said that we should get 50% off since we were only getting half of what we wanted.
I didn't think much of it and a few minutes later the manager called back to apologize and tell me that he could not honor the 50% off. I said that was a bummer, but I understood. I suggested they update the online menu so that it doesn't happen again in the future and the manager said they would get it updated.
When I arrived at the restaurant, the manager came over to tell me that he couldn't honor my request for 50% off because he was going to comp the meal and apologized again for not having one of the items we wanted to order.
We've always enjoyed the Maggiore family owned restaurants, not only for the food, but the excellent service as well. This is another testament to the great thing this family has going on. Can't wait to come in again!
It goes without saying, the food was incredible. The braised short rib was so tender and delicious and the creamy gnocchi was phenomenal! The chicken parmigiana was perfectly pounded out and cooked, still juicy and flavorful with great breading! Some cheesy bread and caesar salad...
