4 stars might be a bit generous, but you can hardly complain too much when the prices are so low, portions are generous and the restaurant is bright and clean. Service was good until we paid the check. No one cleared the dirty dishes and coffee and water service stopped as I write this review...
Hubby had the chicken fried steak and eggs ($9.99) with hash browns and toast (1 slice cut in half). Chicken fried steak was incredibly tender but a bit salty. Which was okay with the hash browns that were cooked perfectly. Well, perfectly the way we like them. Cooked crispy, mixed up then crispy on the outside but still tender on the inside with a bit of crunch throughout.
I had the basic breakfast ($8.99) with the corned beef hash and eggs with pancake option instead of toast (wanted to try as many things as possible on one visit!). Corned beef hash left A LOT to be desired. First bite was reminiscent of wet cat food. Reminded me of the canned stuff we used to take camping as a kid (no, not a good thing). This "basic" breakfast came with 2 pancakes (approx. 6"). Nothing special about the pancakes. Not great but not bad. Syrup wasn't really syrup, mostly sugary water so I'm guessing along the lines of log cabin or Mrs. Butterworth's. You know, the high fructose corn syrup with coloring added. Again, with these prices, can't really expect the real stuff, I guess.
Munchkin had the kids waffle. Basically half a plain Belgian waffle with 2 slices of "really yummy" bacon. Bacon was thick and crispy. For how great prices were for everything else... $5.99 seemed a little high for such a small portioned plate.
So all in all, nothing to write home about. And in all fairness, for the price I shouldn't have expected a good homemade corned beef hash. Basically you get what you pay for here. A cheap, no frills breakfast with the bonus of a nice clean environment. Music wasn't too loud that we felt we had to talk over it and employees all pitched in. We had someone take our order, another bring it out and yet another in addition to our first two that was attentive in refilling coffee and waters. Biggest complaint was that the coffee was terrible. We'll definitely be back when in the area to try other things. Where else can you get a basic Eggs Benedict for only $8.99?!?
Oh, and someone did clear some of our dishes just as we were getting...
Read moreLet me see when I get hashbrowns that are burnt to a crisp and inside they’re cold. Eggs scrambled then come to the table running in the plate, HEALTH ISSUE! I sent it back and then they kind of burned the eggs where they were brown and said here you go well done. Gross! Our toast was burnt, the bacon was overcooked and came out to me cold I saw a big container of already pre-cooked bacon from the window inside there, but they couldn’t even warm it to put it on my plate disappointed and then they’re like oh well will give you 20% off. I don’t care about the discount I care about good food. The eggs Benedict the hollandaise sauce was actually disgusting. My other half, he rarely says anything but not good this time. We left more than 3/4 of our food on the plate. It has been going downhill since the last few times that we’ve been there. I am very very disappointed because you wanna support local business 100% of the time every time, but I’ve given it three chances and this was the third time and it was not a charm. Disappointed to say the least, I would not refer it to my friends to go. The Breakfast Joynt EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED your from my home town, food is...
Read moreCame in today early and noticed a sign on entrance door requesting experienced servers apply. 8 am on Saturday morning with only 5 patrons in the whole restaurant and I asked and was seated in a booth. I am a big individual and enjoy the space that the booth offers for my support and comfort. 2 minutes after being seated, I was told to move because apparently couples are allocated the booths on the weekends. I moved to Eggs and Joe where I enjoyed an Eggs Benedict while being seated in a booth. Enjoy the seat and hopefully understand that experienced servers are need because they bring customer service and a quality to the dining experience. Now I understand why 5 people where there and the other restaurant was busy with customers enjoying breakfast with a line forming out the door to be seated. Sad because I use to drive down past this new place to be a loyal customer of this...
