This is such a beautiful restaurant inside and out! It also has an amazing view of the McDowell mountains. The interior space blends very seamlessly with the outdoor space.
I went to a brunch event and I was so impressed with how impeccable the service was.
The Vig’s Smoky Bakon Bloody Mary had just enough spice. The Maria Verde cocktail was something I had never experienced before. It felt like a green salsa cocktail and I enjoyed it.
We had a ton of food! Cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting- this was not sweet at all and was a bit too sour for me. Avocado toast: grilled multi-grain bread with smashed avocado, cherry tomatoes, and arugula- this tasted very fresh. Tuna tartare with yuzu-soy sauce, avocado, cilantro, togarashi, crispy black rice with seeded lavosh- this was my favorite as it had good flavor and it was yummy on top pf the avocado toast. Chilaquiles: scrambled eggs, crisp corn tortillas, white cheddar, green chili pork, jalapeño crema Breakfast sandwich: turkey sausage & smoked bacon, fried egg, American cheese, sriracha aioli, VIG potatoes on a soft roll Chopped salad tasted very fresh Stuffed French Toast: spiced cream stuffed brioche, candied pecans, caramel sauce- this was indulgent.
I absolutely loved the ambience and the amazing service. I felt like there can be improvements made...
Read moreWAY OVERRATED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Live nearby. Have been here twice. First time, service at the bar was extremely slow, so much so, that my executive friend had to go to one corner of the bar to try and get a drink while I was at the other corner doing the same thing! Bartender response was "well, we are making a lot of speciality drinks!" Second time, we were seated outside and originally got our first drinks at the bar, a waitress finally came up to our seating area and asked if we needed anything...took a long time for her to return with our second drink. Finally, we asked for the bill, which came quickly but after 20 minutes she never came back to cash us out. I do give the manager credit though, he cut the bill in half after hearing we had waited 20+ minutes to try and pay the bill. Suggestions...hire more staff to work the bar and wait staff to work the tables outside on the perimeter. How can a waitress cover the tables near the main building and run up to tables way outside at the same time? Also get some portable pay stations outside! So staff does not have to keep running all the way to the bar to cash a customer out ! Also, I think the drinks are watered...
Read moreThe Vig is a fun, fresh restaurant with a week rounded menu that leans a little Southwestern. They offer soup, sandwiches, tacos, fish, steak, and more. Weekends add some brunch items like biscuits and gravy and chilaquiles.
The Vig has six locations: McDowell Mountain, McCormick Ranch, Fillmore, Arcadia, North Central, and Park West. Each one has both beautiful indoor and beautiful outdoor spaces. It's a great spot to meet with friends, have a family meal, and even bring along your pup.
I recently met with friends at the McDowell Mountain location. We went for brunch as soon as they opened at 10 on Sunday. It was peaceful with lovely views of McDowell Mountain. A solo musician sang nice lo-fi style hits and obliged is in leading happy birthday to our friend.
Brunch with the girls calls for cocktails, of course, so I enjoyed an Old Fashioned. It was smooth and light and went nice with my breakfast Enchiladas. The Enchiladas were delicious with chicken, scrambled eggs, roasted corn, and poblano cream.
Our server was sweet and fun. He joined in as we joked about the huge celery stalk in the Bloody Mary. It was a great start to Sunday and a nice end to...
