Recently came back to Saigon Corner after coming here 2 years back, really such a beautiful & peaceful place to eat you definitely get a tranquil vibe when you’re sitting down there so if you’re looking to study or read between classes or what have you; grab something & relax here. The staff are also very accommodating & kind so props to them for making you feel at home!
Usually when I hit pho spots (I bounce back & forth between NEPA & MD) I ask if they have spring rolls with tofu instead of shrimp (I know tofu? But yeah trust me it’s good) so I was thrilled to see that Saigon Corner had these available! The spring rolls come cut in 4s & a side of peanut sauce, presentation looked very good 👀 was excited to dig in.
The flavor of the spring rolls was on point, a good minty taste to it (love biting into a spring roll & having the mint punch me in the mouth hah!) & the tofu was cooked perfectly! 5/5 as far as the spring rolls themselves go.
I then decided to try the peanut sauce (love peanut sauce it’s a must-dip if you’re gunna eat spring rolls).. this is where the appetizer as a whole fell a bit on the flat side; the sauce itself had actual chopped peanuts in it (good!) but tbh the thickness & flavor was a tad lacking. The consistency of the sauce was a little watery while the flavor was somewhat there I was hoping for a little more of a punch 🥊 of pea-nutty goodness to it. Overall, 3/5 peanut sauce good but I’ve definitely had better needs a little work.
About 5 minutes after my spring rolls came out, my pho came out still steaming hot (tbh, they gave me pork pho at first by accident which was np they ended up bringing me a fresh chicken pho) & man it smelled great! First sip of the broth had a oniony herbal beefy broth flavor with hint of jalapeño & cilantro; good stuff! Digging into the pho a little more, I tried the rice noodles & they were absolutely perfect! Soft but not soggy, good favor! Honestly, the only downside was the lack of white onions (even asking for extra) & lack of chicken; I don’t think there was nearly enough in the soup (although what I did get was good! & flavorful!).
Overall though, 4.5 felt it was a tad skimpy on some things but if there was more chicken, could get a large & white onions it would be a 5. I also feel that the price for a regular bowl is a little steep; at other locations I can get a large for a little cheaper or about the same price.
Saigon Corner at Steamtown is a good spot to eat if you have a pho itch, I would definitely recommend hittin this spot!
EDIT (2025): Mia (the owner) has been working on her product since I first made this review; her portion sizes are larger & priced correctly, she’s adds plenty of chicken/meat in her pho + veggies, her peanut sauce is now thickened with great flavor & her bahn mi is out of this world. I love Saigon Corner, Mia is an amazing chef who cares for food & customers alike!

The Garlic Fried Rice is the star; the perfect old-school fusion of Franco-Asian cuisine; not greasy or salty. The A5. Beef Lemongrass Skewer are certainly handcrafted and again, not greasy and delicious. Wonderful, healthy meal! The shrimp pho is delicious. And you will have a mountain of leftovers, one order is sufficient for 2-3 people. It’s a great dish that you can customize (I have dietary restrictions that they easily accommodate…). I have enough pho for another supper and you can always add some of your own leftovers to it as they (very French…), separate everything from the hot broth so it doesn’t overcook the delicate rice noodles in the delivery. Very thoughtful. My only gripe is the use of styrofoam in the food packaging. It can’t be cleaned and recycled and just ends up in a landfill for generations. I don’t mind paying a few more cents for plastic packaging, so they can be re-used and recycled. Less waste and better for the environment.
Other than the packaging, their food is pretty genuine, having traveled throughout Vietnam many years ago and enjoying the unique fusion of French and Asian cuisine is beautiful. It’s a healthy alternative to your typical Chinese takeout and very delicious. Prices are reasonable especially given the quality and portions you are given. I highly...
Read moreNot sure if they’re going for a fusion feel to their recipes / menu, but this definitely doesn’t give off a traditional vibe.
They should have their signature pho but also offer an ultra traditional pho bowl. Their signature is almost traditional except with meatballs, which is served with the thin sliced beef in the broth already. Traditionally I had it before with the meat on the side and as the customer I place the meat myself into the broth.
The bowl is about 15-20% bigger for the same price range too, even in more expensive areas like Philadelphia. Which in my experience as of now has been the best pho, in philly.
I had 2 visits both were OK. The first was steak cause the signature didn’t appeal to me, didn’t look traditional. But the server told me after I had the steak pho, I could get the signature without meatballs. So I went again and the signature was OK. Other than the size difference, and meat laying in the broth already, which makes it harder to know if they left it in the broth for awhile or not, hence why traditionally I place it into the broth.
Steak Pho I would rate it a 3.2/5 Signature Pho a 3/5 Bahn mi a 2.5/5 - I had more juicer bahn mi,...
