We visited on a Friday in late June 2025. There were a lot of cars in the parking lot but we were able to find parking.
Check in went over fairly well. The only downside was that the desk was on one end of the hotel but to use the luggage cart you had to drive the car to the other end where the ramp was. It was a long roll to the elevators.
We were given room 416 which was listed as a 2 queen bed room. At first we were a little disappointed but the room grew on us. If you've been on cruise ships, you could consider this a interior balcony room. There were a lot of pros and cons to this room. The pros, we had a balcony but it was balcony to the interior of the hotel. Almost like a courtyard but instead it's a roof of the giant stained glass window. The outer rooms had great windows that viewed out onto the town or trainyard but surprising the kids LOVED having the interior balcony space. There were 2 large plush sofas with table of foot rest on the balcony which was carpeted. It could be loud if there was people in the hallways. But my youngest insisted on sleeping out there all night and we let him. It was kind of cool but being on the 4th floor, EVERYONE could look down into our room so there wasn't much privacy. Luckily there weren't many people out and about inside the hotel. Also we noticed right when you walk out the elevator at the OTHER end of the hotel, you can look straight into our room. We had a set of shear curtains and black out curtains.
The room was small but had everything we needed. We realized how unique the room was after exploring the hotel a bit more and kind of enjoyed this unique perspective we were able to have. It would've been nice to see over the railroad yard (as we were staying the night to start our morning over at the Steamtown National Historic Site).
Now for some of the negatives. The bathroom was tiny. If you are sitting on the toilet, you aren't opening and closing the door. The shower was a little dark with jus the wall sconces by the mirror. There was also no microwave in the room. There was 1 public microwave on the topest floor and it was tiny. The whole hotel and just 1 microwave. The mini fridge also wasn't very cool and we kept most of our food in our coolers overnight.
The hotel had a restaurant in the center as well as a bar/grill around the back and a cafe that was open for breakfast I would assume. We leave pretty early and didn't really have a chance to check it out.
There were so many cool things to take pictures of. If you're a photography person this was a dream. I spent almost an hour walking around just exploring the hotel with my wife and taking pictures. Don't forget to check our the safe door that is down by the left side of the lobby. Also if you go to second floor "suite 203", there is a giant balcony that overlooks down into the main hotel atrium.
It was kind of overcast but we went outside and took pictures of the hotel at sunset as well. Just an amazing experience in general.
There is no pool but there was a small gym area with decent equipment.
Overall a great experience and the price didn't break the bank. Breakfast isn't included but there were food options. We would probably stay here again if we had the chance. Maybe ask for a window room next time to see what those were like. If you want a unique experience ask for room 416 or better yet ask for the same room but on the 5th or 6th floor so you have...
Read moreI booked a suite for my 2 year wedding anniversary recently and had an absolute wreck of an experience. I paid $255.00 for a whirlpool room with breakfast included. We were checked in at the front desk by the sales manager who wasn't sure how to properly check us in which wasn't a real issue for me at the time. At this time I inquired about our breakfast and how the process worked and was informed there is a menu that we fill out in our room then place it on our door knob before 2am. We got our room keys and headed to our room to decorate before dinner. Upon entry to the room we were hit w the stench of urine that was so incredibly strong it made my eyes water. We searched for the source of the smell and realized it was the sheets on the bed so we tore them off and sat our things down to inspect the rest of the room. The room was smaller than the photos revealed them to be but it was a one night stay so it wasn't too big of a deal. The night tables had pull out slots almost like a table that were both covered in leftover food, syrups, and stains. I made a note of it and changed for our dinner reservations then headed to the front desk. I tried to be as discreet as possible while informing the front desk employee ( the GM) but I had to express my shock and honest disgust at the quality of the situation. She informed me housekeeping would clean and reset the bed with fresh sheets while we were gone. Upon returning after dinner (10pm) the GM asked me to let me know if everything was okay with the room when I got in. The room was cleaned and bed was reset but the covers were missing so I called down to let them know. She informed me the housekeeper would bring some up And that there had to be some confusion since the housekeeper doesn't speak English. Roughly 20 mins later there's a knock on the door the housekeeper had no sheets in her hand and proceeds to argue w me about the sheets on the bed so I said don't worry about it and shut the door both embarrassed and shocked that this is even happening. I call down inform the GM once again and she personally says she would bring sheets up. It's going for 11pm now when the GM comes up brings sheets and shoves breakfast tickets my way for the "inconvenience" to which I hand them back and say our stay includes breakfast. She offered no apology and didn't seem to care honestly about our experience. I close the door and was so upset that I truthfully just wanted to get to bed so we filled out the breakfast form put it on our door and head to bed. The next morning breakfast is delivered to the room, we get charged $50 for 1 waffle, 2 juices and a cold omelet. The food runner was very sweet and it wasn't his fault so I thanked him and closed the door. I call front desk and at this point I'm livid at how overall unprofessional and uncoordinated this entire hotel has been. They take the breakfast off since they realize it's included in our stay and take $12 our $255 stay for the "inconvenience". I'll never recommend this poor excuse of a hotel to literally anyone after my experience. I've had better experiences and service w smaller mom and pop hotels then this overrated "luxury" stay. Save your money and aggravation and stay literally...
Read moreWhere to even start. My wife and I booked a hotel block here over 9 months before our wedding. We were told we could only get 20 rooms at the block rate but other guests could book outside the block once it was full. No problem, we quickly filled the block and many other guests booked rooms outside of it. We were good to go.
Fast forward to 4 months out, we call the hotel to check on room availability. The front desk tells us the hotel is actually overbooked that day. We initially panic but call the same representative who helped us with the block, and she assures us all our guests will be fine, so we do nothing.
Fast forward to less than 48 hours until our wedding. We are at the rehearsal and start getting frantic calls and texts from guests both inside and outside the block that the hotel either cancelled them or sent them to a different hotel. No heads up to us who have a contract with the hotel, they just start cancelling without telling us. We immediately call the same rep that helped us before, she assures us it’s a misunderstanding and if we send a complete list of our guests, she will sort it out and no one will be moved without us getting a call first. We do this immediately and assume all is now fine.
Less than an hour later, we start getting more calls and texts from guests being cancelled. The hotel lied to us, they are cancelling more people without calling us first. The next 24 hours are then spent getting passed around from staff member to staff member, being told different things, and no one is actually helping us or being honest that they have no solution to the problem. Finally we get the truth, this isn’t a computer glitch, they overbook the hotel as a policy to ensure they fill all the rooms like some airlines do. After several more hours of calling and threatening litigation, finally we get someone to go through our whole list with us of who has a room and who doesn’t so we on our own can help those without find new rooms and rearrange our shuttles to go to new hotels for the displaced guests. Instead of enjoying our upcoming wedding, we’re stressing and panicking to find everyone from out of town rooms to stay in.
I can’t say enough about how unprofessional the staff that runs this place is. They hide behind a “computer glitch” but if you scan through the reviews from past weddings, and you’ll see this is nothing new, it’s business as usual. Everyone else at the hotel is great, we loved the cleaning staff, bartenders, doormen, etc. But this place will knowingly overbook the hotel, never call to tell you there is an issue, and just start cancelling guests two days before. They also will try to make you feel bad by telling you there are two other wedding blocks there in the same boat as you without a paddle. As if them also screwing others over is supposed to make you feel better about what they did to your guests. “Hospitality” is supposed to mean something, it doesn’t here. Book at your own risk, I think it’s safe to say we will not...
