Waldo's Tavern — Restaurant in Scranton

Extremely dissatisfied and disappointed with the service. Last night, I had called about 7pm to ask what time they were accepting take out orders until. The man on the phone told me they put in the last order at 10:30. I wasn't quite ready to order yet so said thank you and I would call back to order soon. Barely an hour later, just before 8:00, I had called to place my order. Nobody answered the phone and I got a busy signal. This proceeded in the same fashion for nearly an HOUR until I finally drove over at 8:45 to place my order in person. I got there, and the man behind the counter told me he TOOK THE PHONE OFF THE HOOK because they were busy and they also were NOT accepting anymore orders. He refused to serve me, even after I had called earlier to check what time they were accepting orders until. If he said there was a wait, that would have been fine. Take my order, I'll come back in an hour. Tell me call back in half an hour. But to stop taking orders over two hours before the designated time is wrong (half an hour so, I can understand) - to take the phone off the hook, terrible business practice. I understand places get busy, and we as customers will understand if we have to wait. But to decide to stop taking orders for the rest of the night after advertising/stating orders will be taken until 10:30 is just.... Bad. Overall, I am EXTREMELY dissatisfied, so much so that I'm still thinking about it the next night when I finally decided to post this. This is honestly only the second time I have ever felt strongly enough about a business or service to leave a review. I am very disappointed, Waldo's. I hope this practice does not continue...

I love locally owned businesses and the quality of food they can produce when they make it with love. The staff here always take care of my wife and me when we visit, with consistent and high quality food and drinks every time. It may not look like much from the outside, but this is a place worth stopping at every time you drive past. We enjoy the outdoor bar over the indoor one, unless there's awesome live music playing. The owner, Morgan, puts a lot of work into making sure everyone leaves happy, and she does a great job. The only downside I've found so far is that everything I've tried is so good that I can't bring myself to explore more of the menu, and I've settled into a few favorites - mixing sauces is the exception, with Hot/Captain Morgan, Cajun/Ranch, and Porketta/Ranch being my favorite three...

Waldo’s has become my all-time favorite place to get wings! Both boneless and bone in, the flavor selection and taste is superb! I get the xtra mild sauce which doesn’t irritate my heartburn. The crisp is perfect. Waldo’s gives HUGE portions to the point where myself and my partner have to share a meal & we still have leftovers! You get an amazing value for what you’re paying, which is a very affordable price to begin with. The staff is always friendly and attentive, even when the place is packed. The patio is really nice to sit at. They have bands and live music from time to time as well. I can’t recommend...
