Oar House Pub — Restaurant in Sea Isle City

This used to be an amazing restaurant. Not anymore. We went for dinner on a Sunday with my elderly family members. The guy at the door tried to charge us a cover and I asked what for and he said the band and bar. I told him we weren't there for that, just for dinner. He gave me an attitude and rolled his eyes. To make matters worse we had called and asked if it was busy or if there was a wait. The person on the phone said there was no wait and it wasn't busy. IT WAS PACKED. The waitress told us we could go upstairs because it was quiet. We ordered the muscles because every time we've ordered them here before THEY WERE DELICIOUS. They brought our food out. The guy who brought our food out put his HAND right in our food. He knew he did it because he started pulling muscles and bread off our plate that he touched. The muscles WERE DRY AS HELL! Normally they come in red sauce, mixed together. There was dry pasta, over cooked muscles and a blob of sauce straight out of a can on top. They were disgusting. There was no point in trying to get anyone to fix it because the bar tender blatantly came over and told us he was too busy to come over again. If you want a bar, fine. But families just trying to have a meal still want to come here. I wouldn't recommend it, they couldn't care less about your business. You ruined one of best restaurants...

Went for the Wed. Happy Hour with the Radio host, made a reservation 4 weeks prior, when seated we asked why we were not near the DJ as we were told we could be, hostess said oh they are reserved for life, someone has to die to get those tables… that was the worse thing I have heard in a long time !! Asked server the situation and she said we don't discuss hostess stuff and sent the manager over, who basically told me whoever I made reservation with was wrong and she handled all Wed reservations and reiterated the same sentiment as hostess. We were also informed we “had to order food” if we intended to stay for DJ. The service was awful, the food poor quality and cold ff with sandwich's The flounder was frozen packaged at best. Took an hour for the dinner to come after reminding the server we had ordered it The prices far higher than anything paid this week. The staff rude and non caring, drinks over priced and watered down, down right shameful, considering they need to seasonal business to thrive. The Dj and music was great to see, however not enough to endure any extra moments at this establishment… never again. Nor would I recommend to anyone...

Came for dinner with lifelong friends, expecting a decent meal and a good time. Place smelled like bleach, table was very dark, very little light. Two of us got the crab buffet, the other got the whole lobster. The waitress never removed our menus as she served our meals on top of them. Later she came to remove them after our food was on top of them. Although several items were offered on the buffet, only the crab legs were edible. The lobster was served whole, not cracked or split as described and required a lot of work. We expected it to be prepped and ready to eat, but it wasn't. We were then instructed to refer to our messy placements for instructions on how to crack the lobster. Halfway thru the meal, my friends lobster meat, which she worked so hard to get was taken by our waitress and dumped in the trash. To their credit, they did give her another lobster- hence the one star rating. The next night we called to gain clarity on how the lobsters were being served and were told they are cracked and split and ready to eat and the waitress would assist you if needed.
