Smith's Cafe — Restaurant in Seaford

For a small hole in the wall especially being in a thrift store, Smith's Cafe has an incredibly large selection on their menu. I ordered fried chicken breast with the option to top it off. This option is mashed potatoes that have bacon in the gravy. Additionally I had french fries and baked macaroni and cheese. The Fried Chicken was very reminiscent of the old english's chicken. Absolutely delicious especially with the top it off option. The baked macaroni and cheese was good as well. The french fries, though plain, did the trick after they were salted. Our party also got the two piece chicken with kale and cucumber and onion salad. They really enjoyed all the options the meats were cooked very well. The final selection for our party was grilled chicken breast with asparagus and potato wedges. Again, the asparagus was plain, but serviceable. The prices are tremendous! I suggest that you dont go there real hungry expecting quick service because there is nothing quick about getting your food served!! We usually go out to breakfast Sunday morning and I wanted a change in menu and scenery and chose to go to Smith's. For a breakfast menu one would think it is short order cooking and a fairly easy quick platter to create. We waited practically 30 MINUTES to get simple, routine egg platters. Our waitress was not what I would call "stellar" and then at check out, expressing our displeasure about the amount of time it took to simply get our food felt like we were talking to a rock. I noticed we were not the only table experiencing extremely slow service, as there were a few other tables appearing to be questioning where their food was as well, with their half full beverage cups and no food plates on their tables. Their food is pretty good. But every time I call in an order no matter what phone I'm on a landline or a cell phone. There's a lot of background noise on their end and they have a hard time hearing me order it's very frustrating because I do speak English. It's also happened to my boyfriend and my brother. So it isn't just how I talk or how I come across it's an issue on their end. Also a few times of gone into pick up my order and I'll stand in line and it's as if they don't see me and they take people that just came in after me picking up their order so I feel like I'm invisible. When I asked them about their pies like what flavor their cake and pies are I feel like it's a bother and most of the time they have to have someone else come over and tell me.
