We've been buying from them for at least 8 years now. Until the last several orders, we hardly had any issues at all. It had been our favorite local pizza/pasta place by far. While the freshness of the ingredients has never come into question, nor has the service, recently, there appear to have been some changes we don't agree with.
The last 2 times we have ordered the pasta bread bowls, we have found that the bread recipe had apparently been changed. It doesn't seem as "flavorful". While the toppings were exactly as we remembered them (and delicious as always), the breading was "just not there" for us. We will try again soon and hope it has been corrected.
The other issue that has developed is with the last 3 pizzas we ordered there: All the toppings (other than the sauce/cheese) were centered toward the middle of the pizza. On the large pizza we received, this left an outer ring of only cheeze/sauce about 4" from the edge. I've lived in Houston all my life, which has great food, and I've had great pizza in New York and Chicago. But I can safely say that the Italian pizza I got from Bertalotto's is the best pizza I've ever had in my life. The banana peppers were incredibly flavorful and crispy, the toppings were generous, the crust was freshly baked and crunchy. If I lived in Sealy I'd eat from Bertalotto's every week, at least. Read moreI remember coming here maybe two years ago for my birthday. The pizza was astounding! We got a regular medium sized pepperoni, my mother got one of the pastas and she loved it. The sauce and cheese ratio was perfect. The pepperonis were perfect: not too soft to where they fell off, but not too hard to where they fell apart. I don't remember if there was already parmesan or if we put it on ourselves, but it was amazing with parmesan on top. It was a great experience, the people were very nice.
