What has happened to Colton's? This makes me so sad to post. The last 3 times my sister and I have been there it was no good, certainly not the Colton's we are use to and loved. The first time we were disappointed, we just chalked it up to a bad night, as Colton's has always been great, great staff, great food and beverage. Pretty much the same with the 2nd time, we thought maybe it was just what we ordered. We decided to give it another try... But the 3rd strike and they are out..That breaks my heart. It use to be the go to restaurant if we had people in town-as that is/was really the best "local" had to offer, if you didn't want Mexican food. All three times we had to ask the server to please wipe the table as it was so sticky it was awful-I can possibly understand the excessive stickiness because of the honey offered with their (amazing) rolls, but shouldn't they make sure the table is clean before seating your next diners?? Maybe use a bit of detergent to remove it??. All three times they brought a soaking wet/dripping cloth and wiped over the sticky surface leaving the water to evaporate only to be left with a still sticky table. The last time, we asked for extra cloth napkins and put them over the table like a table cloth, at least you could lay your phone on the table and it not stick. Each time we go, we typically order a couple of appetizers, an entree to split and a couple adult beverages. This most recent time/last time- We ordered 3 appetizers to share and two adult beverages. Smoked Salmon Dip, Texas Sized Cheese sticks and the Egg Rolls. The Smoked Salmon Dip (which is usually our favorite appetizer on their menu), was ok (other than the giant chunks of cream cheese from not being incorporated properly, but you could mash them up pretty easily with a fork), but the pita chips were burned an inedible, so we just used the dinner rolls to spread the dip on..trying really hard not to be "those people" who complains about everything, (as we had already asked for the table to be cleaned again and extra cloth napkins to use as a table cloth). THEN we get to the Cheese Sticks..are you serious, they had been cooked so long the cheese cooked out of them and they were nothing but hollow batter shells, COMPLETELY EMPTY/NO CHEESE AT ALL, I had no choice but to show our server the one I had bitten into revealing no cheese, so she reached on the plate and snapped the remaining cheese sticks, to see how many had cheese left in them!!!!! She determined there were 5 of the 8 that did not have cheese...and she brought us 5 more!!!! Yes she left the ones she had snapped in half and brought 5 replacements...Maybe it is just me, but wouldn't you have taken the entire plate back and brought out a new order..especially since you had picked up-touched-every piece of someone's food??? Nope, we got 5 replacement cheese sticks..Sorry that is so absurd it is funny.. LOL. The Eggrolls were just OK, nothing special, but after experiencing the other two items, I was happy to be getting "OK". Then we get the tab for almost $60.00 (before tip)..I have zero problem paying/tipping well for good food and good service. But between the sticky (gross) table, 2 out of three items we ordered unacceptable...I can say we will probably not ever be going back...I guess if you are eating local and would like an adult beverage with your...
Read moreWhen I first entered this location I was leery about the place as I always am when entering resteraunts. I've been to some places that looked clean only to turn out not to be. In this case I was not disappointed. I was seated within seconds which is very much unlike another resteraunt I visited in the recent past. I believe I was in florida where I waited 15 minutes at the door & was ignored by everyone. I had to seat myself & then wait another 10 minutes before being rudely asked who seated me there! At Colton's this was not the case. The service was friendly & prompt. The tables were clean. So was the silverware. I wasn't kicking around someone else's food & trash on the floor. I wasn't sitting there feeling like something was crawling around my socks. Instead it was a very relaxing environment. Nobody giving me dirty looks or trying to start trouble with me. In some resteraunts you can't sit & eat in peace because someone got a snide remark to throw your way. Who needs that when you're trying to enjoy your meal? I took my glasses off & set up my phone for YouTube viewing. The waiter had placed a clean menu in front of me before I could finish setting up. I immediately ordered a salad & sweet tea. 5 minutes later I had fresh warm rolls, whipped butter, & my sweet tea sitting before me. I ordered the Filet Mignon with feta cheese & bacon crumbles on top along with rice pilaf. As I buttered my rolls the chef came out asking if he could butterfly my steak since it was a thick cut of meat. Doing so would allow for my steak to cook faster. I didn't mind at all since it meant I wouldn't be waiting all day for my food. My grilled chicken salad was excellent. The catalina french dressing set things off right. Due to butterflying the steak my main course was sitting before me just as soon as I finished the last forkfull of my salad. I like my steaks cooked well done. Colton's made me feel like I was at Burger King where I could have it my way without argument. I have no complaints about my food, the service, the atmosphere, the cleanliness of the restaurant or it's silverware. I would recommend this location to anyone looking forward to a peaceful environment to enjoy a meal. Including Daym Drops! I know that he'd be more artistic in his explanation of his time visiting Colton's Steak...
Read moreMy friend and I eat at Colton's all the time and we have never had service as we did today. We came in, were seated, greeted, drinks ordered including a beer for my friend, bread delivered, app delivered, and entrees ordered. Then my friend ordered a double shot of vodka. Waited. Food delivered including a well done steak so that took the normal time. Vodka never delivered and was asked about again at food delivery. At this time my friend had only had 1 sip of his beer. Waitress said she did not put in the order but would do so now. Waited. My son and I were done with our food and my friend was still waiting on his vodka. When the waitress came around next, he asked again and she said, "to tell you the truth, you looked drunk when you came in that I didn't feel comfortable giving you the shot", then said she could lose her job if she did and that she talked to her manager about it and he agreed to not give the shot. She was apologetic while I was confused. My friend was being very gracious at that time and gave her a pass. Then we started discussing it at the table because we thought that was odd and nobody in our party saw any signs of drunkenness from him and wondered why the waitress nor the manager came and had a conversation with us about it rather than just ignoring the order.
It dawned on me later what she was talking about. She mentioned that he stumbled in his walk and slurred in his speech. 1. He has a leg that is shorter than the other and walks off balance naturally. 2. He dips. Had dip in his mouth when we first sat down and conversed with the waitress and all the way until we got the food. 3. He has a job that requires 24/7 on-call and it was a rough weekend with extra work hours and lack of good sleep that resulted in serious blood shot eyes.
I am sooooo disappointed in one of our favorite restaurants stereotyping him, ignoring him, and not conversing with him on their concerns before just making a decision. It was so unprofessional, not courteous, rude, and unwarranted.
I am angry that they created a very irate and annoyed ending to what we thought was a lovely dining experience. This was our first time eating at this location and will most certainly be our last time. We have never had this type of problem at any other Colton's...
