After a long day visiting the Museum of Flight which by the way is a fantastic place to visit, upon several recommendations from locals, & other reveiwers my wife & I decided to give 13 Coins a try. Upon walkimg thru the door, would could tell it was far from your average up scale restaurant. The atmosphere upon first glance looked busy, but we were welcomed, & noticed instantly, upon which we were promptly offered seating in the live entertainment section or for a little wait seating in the less noisier more personable section. 'Really at the time we happened to pick there was no quiet section, just a different kind of noise, live band bar like atmosphere, versus the noise of chefs calling orders, & sizzling meals as they cook on the opposing counter in front of you, if your at the bar counter'. Once we got seated we were given our menus, then popped them open, we were quickly overwhelmed by the number of yummy looking selections which was very hard to choose from. Being our first time their I settled on something simple, & got the Waygu Burger. Never heard of Waygu beef, but my more familiar wife said it was a kind of beef so I thought I would give it a try. Upon receiving it I was very impressed. The. Bacon was the thick, & flavorful kind, tomato slices were from a good tomato. Didn't care for the pickle or onion, but I'm not a fan of those anyways. The half pound of burger meat was bigger then I was use to, but it flavored very good. The fries were a bit greesy, & hot, but addictivly good. After our meal we were full, & were originally planning on getting dessert & taking it with us but ended up getting some, & eating it on the spot. Holy cow that was some good dessert we both had. Each of us got a different one split them between us. I got the Decadent Chocolate, & she got the Cheesecake. Chocolate was rich bit delicious, the Cheesecake was amaretto infused, with small bit of pineapple at the bottom, the pineapple of which is easy to skip over if your like me, & don't like. Cheesecake itself was the best we've both had ever had. The crust went well with it too, my wife even loved it, & I naturally love good crusts. Overall the service was great by everyone we met, the food was fabulous, & our drinks never sat empty. Even though I've found some reviews to be critical, I never found there to be anything wrong with the place. Very busy, but everyone seemed to show their brighter side, & I wouldn't hesitate to throw this suggestion out to those out towners that might be visiting like we were.

Angry with the hostess but the food and service were perfect as always. I got there at about 6:15pm which is dinner rush so I kind of understand their point of view. I just received a text from my friend who was meeting me there at SeaTac 13 Coins. She said she was about 10 minutes away. She had told me she was bringing her two minor children with her. I asked the hostess for a table for 2 adults and 2 children. She asked me how many people were already here now. I told her just me. She said well I can't give you a table if it's just you but you can sit at counter. I said okay I'll sit at the counter and when she is here in 10 minutes, we'll move to a table. She said no If you start at the county you have to stay at the counter. I said "No I don't! I absolutely will not do that!". I couldn't believe someone was speaking to me that way. Seeing that I was upset, the other hostess very skillfully and politely, took me to the bar area and said I could have a table in there until the other parties arrived. She said if a table's still available in the dinning area, we could have it. I texted my friend telling her that I didn't have a table because they wouldn't give me one because she wasn't there yet. She told me didn't have the kids with her at all. So I said okay we can have dinner in the lounge. We had filet mignon, fried ravioli, and prawn cocktail. The server in the lounge did a perfect job the food was amazing as always. 13 Coins has been my favorite place to get steak for over 20 years. In fact ironically the friend meeting me used to work at the 13 Coins on Boren in the Denny Triangle. I'm not sure if it's a policy not to give someone a table when their joining party is 10 minutes away, or if the hostess was misinformed. But I certainly didn't like being treated like that.

I should start by adding that I've been going to 13 Coins SeaTac since the early 80's... it's always been a uniquely Northwest staple that has amazingly reliable and great food with a uniquely comfortable atmosphere. Since I live a fair distance from this location visits are occasional and usually marked by an arrival or departure from SeaTac airport... tonight was no different. A typical visit involved my wife and six year old son but tonight was just me. I decided however that I would endure the uneasiness of dinning alone and enjoy a delicious meal by myself... Arriving to a busy restaurant I was immediately seated at the counter which is always fun to sit at... off to a good start! I already knew what I wanted and immediately placed my order... Elysian Space Dust IPA, garden salad with blue cheese, and a filet mignon with spaghetti... the Pint arrived cold and fresh... definitely from a well kept tap. The garden salad ( prepared by one of the most dedicated and detail oriented employees I saw all night and on other visits) cold, fresh, and with just the right amount of blue cheese crumble dressing... Austin (my waiter and also excellent in everything he did this evening) added just the right amount of fresh cracked pepper... superb. And then the Filet mignon arrived.... ugh... OODA loop broken... it was as if I was a teenager again and watching Fast Times at Ridgemont High for the first time and Phoebe Cates just got out of the pool and then the power goes out! Soul crushed... in my experience Filet mignon is a small pudgy cut about one inch thick and tender as can be... and as ordered by me should be medium with a pink center with hints of red @ 145 degrees. What arrived was not this... it had 1/4 inch deep grill Mark's on each side and was approximately 5/8 of an inch thick... Austin asked if everything was to my liking at which point I asked him if this was a filet... he told me that it was but some of the cuts toward the end got like this... although disappointed I accepted his explanation. On a side note the spaghetti looked delicious (and it was)... after several bites of spaghetti I noticed the filet mignon had no juices rising on the outside so I decided to cut a piece off... to my disappointment it was cooked well beyond medium... so i tried a bite... also less than tender... several minutes had passed and Austin asked if things were ok. I showed him the steak and asked him if the temp was medium... he said it looked closer to medium well and asked if he should start another filet... I said it was not necessary since I was on a schedule and don't agree with the principal of it... after I finished the spaghetti I had two more bites of the filet mignon and then moved on to dessert. Between the filet mignon and dessert a manager stopped by and asked if things were ok... he had clearly been informed of the filet mignon..I said things were fine and I showed him the steak... again he mentioned they could remake it... I said no... back to dessert...the chocolate decadence was amazing and so was the cup of coffee. When the bill arrived the manager had deducted 15.75 from the 45 filet mignon... I asked them to add it back on but they refused... they said it was the least they could do. So here's the rub (and not the good kind...think cheese grater or sand paper coated with poison ivy...)... with such a good establishment why in the world would a filet mignon looking like that and costing $45 have ever made it to me? Wouldn't the chef and everyone down the line think to themselves this is wrong? I shouldn't serve this? I know I'm not at El Gaucho but I also know I'm not at Denny's... I will continue to eat here but I hope things improve... right the first time...

Mood - a lost memory With Covid being in place it is different in each state as to how things are done. I used to come here all the time when I lived in Seattle so I knew the food was going to be wonderful or at least I thought. Upon entering was greeted and told there would be a wait, and could not be seated until everyone in my party was there. Which I thought was odd, as some other patrons walked in and were told that there parties were sitting down waiting for them on the other side. Once seated was given menus and beverage order was taken. Opted for Strawberry lemonades and Tea cut with Strawberry Puree. Was really good. The remainder of the order was taken, steak with eggs scrambled hard " I really dont care for eggs" but they are healthy so I eat them a certain way, french onion soup, cinnamon toast with bacon, and chicken fried steak with scrambled eggs. Now I will admit as soon as I seen the eggs I was not happy. They were that really soft scramble, and the eggs with the chicken fried steak came back fried. So no I was not happy. Funny thing, the server never asked us why we didnt finish our food. Most places ask. Interior is quite spacious and still in the grand idea of high booth backs, and high chairs that sit at the counter for that ultimate privacy. The restaurant was very clean and exactly as I had remembered. Staff wore masks to ensure good ol safety. Would recommend - pricing is a reflection of quality and presentation. Staff was friendly. For my major snafu on two different orders, maybe I just came in on the wrong day and the wrong time.

This is the second time that I have been here. The first time was great besides getting sick off of the bucket of clams. But the second time not so much. We ordered two of the Believers. A thing of fried calamari. The food was delicious, the chicken was fried a bit too long. We were sitting in the area where you could see them cook the food I guess you would say the bar. 1. When we were seated the chairs had duct tape on them, the cushion in the chair no longer existed, it was wobbly. 2. Instead of the waiter handing us our food from the side of the bar where they cook, he continued to proceed to reach over us from the opposite end. Which was a bit unprofessional in my eyes and a little awkward. 3. The area that we were sitting in has these wooden light posts that hang down to give you more lighting, as we were eating our food, I happened to look up at the lighting while I was trying to take a picture of the food. I immediately noticed tons of thick dust built up in the wooden light fixtures that are just hovering over our plates. I immediately was not happy considering the fact that God knows how much does done went into my plate of food. 4. Considering the prices that they charge at 13 Coins you would think that they would refurbish the chairs and put more Cushing in it to make it more comfortable as well as do some detail cleaning. 5. I wanted to take a picture of the chair and the lighting but did not want to look too obvious. 2 believers, fried calamari & garlic bread cost $97.00

Service was excellent. Clay was our server and he was probably the perfect waiter. Casual but professional and prompt. No pressure whatsoever and still held a great presence offering selections for us as newcomers. The appetizers were great. Best wings I've had in a very long time, and the first garlic parmesean wings I have ever liked. Loved the house fries. Pasta and cream sauce was good. Red sauce is decent and not too acidic, but nothing to rave over. Though im picky about my red sauce, so take it with a grain of salt. The chicken was over done and had too much breading for the protein ratio. Couldn't taste the chicken. Just the bitter lightly burnt breading. When I noticed the flavor I checked and the underside was a dark brown. No big deal, but I won't get it again. I'm very excited to come back and try other menu items! We had a great time, and again this was greatly to Clay's perfect service. Respect. Also first diner to ever give me more lemons that I needed! I'm a sucker for lemon water. Super accommodating. My husband had a lost island cocktail. Said it was good but not great. Pineapple flavor over road the drink. The Chipotle dip was great and well balanced! Nice heat but not too spicy. Beginner charcuterie plate had very good clean veggies. No chemical flavor and crisp, without a single bitter piece. Cherry tomatoes in the red sauce were not as reliable, but tomatoes do that to you. Over all a great experience and we really enjoyed ourselves.
