My previous reviews of Copperleaf at Cedarbrook Lodge have been 5 stars. This has always been on our short list of occasion restaurants. We have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, mother's and father's day, as well as dropped in for family dinners. Today was sadly not our usual amazing experience. We came for brunch this morning for father's day, which I had made reservations well in advance for. We arrived at our scheduled time, and could see the restaurant was very busy for the occasion. We waited for over 20 minutes to be seated. Fair enough, since it was father's day brunch. After being seated for a time, our server finally came to our table and we placed beverage orders, which then took a considerable time to arrive. Our server, while pleasant, seemed a little disconnected. We gave her the benefit of the doubt, since it was busy, and placed our food orders. This is where things went south. We were all but abandoned by her after this, with the exception of her finally refilling my water glass. We noted there was a 6 top that was seated next to us a good 20 minutes after we were seated. They had a different server, and wound up getting their food well before we did. My husband asked the other server if she could please send over our server because we still didn't have food. After that our food finally arrived, with the temperature ranging from tepid to cold as if it had been sitting for a bit, and we were missing items ordered. I looked at my phone and we were finally served our food exactly 90 minutes after the start of our reservation. My husband asked to speak to the manager. William, who introduced himself as the director of food and beverage, came over to our table and my husband shared our lackluster experience. William, to his credit, listened intently and asked what he could do. I said I am also in customer service and understand how things can go wrong from time to time, but that this was not our usual experience with Copperleaf and I felt he should know. William comped our meal, which honestly made me feel a little uncomfortable because that was not expected or what we were asking for, but it is the reason we will be giving Copperleaf another chance. It has been one of our favorite restaurants in the area, and one we recommend regularly to friends and family. I do hope this was just a one off and not a normal occurrence. It is a beautiful restaurant in a gorgeous setting, and we've always had phenomenal service before today. Thanks to William and his excellent customer service we left feeling optimistic for the next time. Atmosphere today: 5 Food today: 3 (5 for ingredients and presentation, 1 for the cold temperature; poached and fried eggs should NOT be cold) Service: 2 for our server, 5 for the...
Read moreI've been here three times recently. The place is beautiful & quite the hidden gem in the middle of Sea TAC . It's definitely worth a visit if you've never been .
But here are the reasons why I give 2 stars . It was never busy everytime I've been here . But every time the service has been painfully slow. Most tables were empty so they had no reason to be that slow. One time it took an hour before we got our main course . I was there today w friends. It was hard to get the waiters attention . Food took long & waited around w empty drinks before he would come check .
Now about the food .... Totally mediocre mostly . Everytime I've been dissapointed as well as people I've been there with . Today I ordered fish & chips. Fish itself was good & moist . Batter was so soggy & gross . They missed the mark w one of the most basic food any cook or chef should master . It's to fry w perfect crispy batter. The quality of food doesn't match the caliber of this Lodge .
Today we were greeted by a man in a suit. In fact there 2 men in suits who assisted our seating .They were both borderline rude. Never smiled or even made eye contact as they greeted us & took our coats . Both very Stern , stuffy and acted as if we bother them lol . I always find it fascinating when I go to a restaurant especially a nice one & the staff has horrible attitude. Do they not realize they are in hospitality business & that people like us help pay their salary ? I believe we should all be nice w everyone regardless where we are or who we are talking to. So I find this type of behavior hard to understand . A couple of wait staff were nice . But one wasn't . I rarely run into rude people. So my impression today of the staff in general was that they are unfriendly , Stern , & pretentious . Unfortunate . To top it off we stood & waited forever for the same guy in the suit to get our coats . Never came . Finally our waiter saw us & ended uup getting our coats .
These are words I'd use to describe This place : beautiful property , mediocre food , painfully slow service, pretentious staff(not all ), & disorganized w staff. Hard to get help . I'd come here more often if they address these issues. Otherwise...
Read moreWe live only a few minutes away and decided to try this place for dinner. The place is pretty nice hence the 4 stars for atmosphere. The greeting was meh and could have been more welcoming. The server, a young lady with dark hair and thick rimmed glasses was super nice, warm and friendly. My husband ordered a burger with truffle fries and really enjoyed it. My food was another thing altogether. I ordered the only veggie entre option on the menu, The Panisse/croquettes. They were strange. First of all the croquette was made up of 4, tiny 1" meatball-sized orbs. Small is not even the right word. They were microscopic. Served on a bed of parsnip puree which was a schmear totaling a half teaspoon. To fancy it up, the garnish was a sad little sprinkle of an afterthought of some microgreens. The little croquettes were extra sweet, yep sugary sweet but meant to be savory. They were dry too. Strange little balls. My plate was $32 which was outrageous. Let me tell you why; along with the 4 baby balls there was 1, I counted, barely roasted baby carrot, 2 brussel sprouts and 2 stalks of broccoli rabe. All were coated in oil. Very heavy-handed. The carrot and sprouts were cut in half so they appeared as 2 carrots and 4 sprouts. That part was comical. The remainder of the very large plate was filled with air and white space. In essence, I got $3 worth of oily veggies for $32. I did tell the nice server about the sweet little balls though and she came back and offered dessert on the house. I didn't accept it. Nice offer but the food was sweet enough, although I only ate 1/2 of one ball. I went home disappointed and sad. I had eaten here twice before and it was good. That was pre-pandemic, so I'll chalk up this experience to a new chef perhaps. IDK, it just wasn't good. There are soooo many things one can do to create amazing alternatives for vegans and vegetarians. It does not have to equate to just tasteless veggies on a plate. Attempts at giving what seems to be one's money's worth would be highly...
