Birrieria La Santa Tacos & More — Restaurant in SeaTac

So there I was, driving south on a poorly-maintained highway because I-5 had lane closures, when suddenly my car started making a weird noise. A tire? The muffler?

"Pull over on the next exit" said my partner. We pulled into a warehouse parking lot after passing a taco truck called Birreria La Santa, and sho' nuff, a big ok' hex head was embedded in my rear drivers side. After my sweetie mucked up the tire change by putting the jack on the wrong spot and yanking off the tire, releasing the suspension, we were Effed. The car was now sitting too low to get the spare on.

"Maybe someone at the taco truck can help?" We wondered. Ran over there and asked the young man behind the counter if someone there had another jack. And he did! After getting his homie to watch the register, he got a legit Pittsburg floor jack out of the back of his van, rolled it across the street to my temporary three wheeler, and helped us get the vehicle jacked back up. Success! We were able to get back on the road and drive the 60 miles to wish my dad a happy 76th birthday.

I bought a couple of burritos and left a nice tip.

Where to begin on an experience that leads from a great look to a disappointed one?

I drove by one day and was hungry. I saw the sign saying birrieria tacos. I thought about the one we have locally. Since the one locally was great I said this can be no different. Especially the location was remodeled very well and has a modern look to it. I was in awe of how magnificent this place looked. I was very sure the food was gonna be great or maybe stellar.

I ordered two tacos birrieria. I waited about 5 minutes. Grabbed my food and left immediately. Upon opening the box they put my taco in. It was just meat and tortilla that is it. There was no cilantro and onion or anything added to it. I said this can't be it. No way this place has five stars and serves tacos like this as if a small six-year boy made it. I was appalled by the waste of money because one bite was so dry and it was just meat flavor I did not taste any other spiced nor detect a flavor besides meat.

The staff for being nice gets five stars, the restaurant looks five stars. My tacos are zero stars. What a plain old boring taco this was. Next time I pass by I will go to...

March 2023 update: Not sure what happened but suddenly the portions are WAY smaller. The amount of meat in each taco went down to about 1/3 for the same price. And speaking of price, no more Taco Tuesday special means it's full price all the time for less food. I know inflation is kicking everyone's butt, but this is no longer worth it even if the flavors are spot on.

I hope things return to 2022 portions and/or prices, but I have little faith it will.

Original review: Not sure why we haven't tried this place before but we gave it a shot today. This is, hands down, some of the best food we've eaten in the area.
