I've been a Roosevelt resident for 20 years and have tried to like this place, in part because they are often open early when we're en route to the highway. But the location/building is simply dismal/depressing. Unfortunately, the coffee doesn't make up for it (I've tried Americanos, lattes, & mochas -- all mundane) and the pastries always seem more than day-old.
More importantly, there used to be cheerful barristas that brightened the morning gloom that shrouded the discarded QFC carts beneath I-5, but now the ambiance and attitude inside is starting to feel like the garbage-strewn parking lots surrounding the place. It saddens me that the neighborly hospitality of yesteryear has been replaced by a couple of gruff troll-like males (new owners?). They seem obsessed with efficiently making a buck when they should be inspiring us to forget how desperate it feels to seek our fix from the toxic underbelly of the Interstate.
Thank goodness we have some cheerier, cleaner, high-quality coffee shops nearby! Thanks to the coming light rail station, we'll likely...
Read moreThis is a great local spot to grab a quick bite. I've had a variety of sandwiches, espresso, and other items from the menu. Everything has always been tasty and the portions are generous and filling. I recommend the classic gyro sandwich or the marinated chicken sandwich (Athenian I think it's called). Request to add spicy hot sauce if that's your thing. They also serve all day breakfast options including a couple sandwiches and breakfast burrito. The bagel sandwich with egg and cheese is panini pressed and very good. Also, the owner here is super nice and down to earth. This is a great spot to hop in after a jog around Green Lake or before going to the bus stop on your...
Read moreNew review: the new ownership has destroyed this place. The employees don’t know what iced americanos are, and they’re on the menu (she used hot water, remade it like a latte, and it was still warm where the ice melted before I even walked out the door). The outside is covered in weeds and trash. They order their food instead of making it now. It used to be so great, but it’s a poor experience now. I’m pretty bummed, used to be my favorite spot.
My favorite coffee shop in Seattle! And the best hummus I’ve had in my life. The owner is so friendly. This is truly a local business and the best place to spend your...
