By's is a seafood and burger joint that has been around since the 50's. We we pleasantly surprised with the single patty burgs but most importantly the fries were fantastic. Hand cut with skins or sweet potato fries are preferred, both of which are on the menu. Their fries were hot, fresh and crispy. The tangy fry sauce they provide was very good and unique. I'm sure this is a popular spot for lunch with the area businesses. We would definitely return when in the area!

Local Burger & Fish Spot in SODO. The staff was wonderful, really felt like a family run spot. Even though the area/outside is a little rundown, the inside was clean and well maintained. The food was served quick and piping hot. The burger was a good size, thin and big (which I prefer). The bun was soft and light. The steak fries (an upgrade from standard fries) were good, but felt a little overpriced. That being said, happy to support this local spot. Free parking lot.

The most legendary iconic fast casual homestead that radiates originality with its no frills but fast to thrill delicious food that warms the soul and leaves you counting the days until you come back for more. I recommend the fish and chips if you’ve never been. The hand cut fries are the best in the city. Do yourself a favor and make like a real Seattleite and make yourself a regular at By’s - where the goin get By and the fries never lie 🍔🍟🥤

This is the BEST burger mom and pop shop in Seattle. They change their oil and are mindful of fat/salt/protein proportions for the crispiest fries, perfectly balanced burgers and condiments. I highly recommend their fried fish sandwich and sweet potato fries. Their fries in general are spot on and I order them often depending on my mood--crisp and the perfect cut. They balance flavors to an addictive, loving level. The owners/operators are so accommodating and attentive--please treat them with the respect and love they deserve. This is LAST MEAL level. That said, if you're vegan (which I have been), I recommend their fries and onion rings, but they are NOT a salad joint (please...they can't please or cater to every dining option). You're better off in South Seattle (Columbia City/Beacon Hill) for vegan options. I cook vegan often and with many veggies, that's my forte cause I know my needs.

Also, I find their portions VERY satisfying and more than enough... not a light eater. If you're expecting more...please let them know your expectations and ask for their suggestions! I wouldn't be surprised if they accommodated, you just have to state your needs. IE I ate a burger 6 inches across and 1.5 servings of fries--that's my bandwidth and was...

Yeah I thought the food was pretty good I thought I got the steak fries which wasn't bad they did put a lot of cheese on I'll give them that that was probably the best part and I thought it was a little tense on the steak but my friend thought it was OK And I thought the portion was a little small for 10 bucks and I got well she she came me 3 fish right I didn't know she was gonna you know give me 3 whole fish and it was $6 that was probably the best part of the order it was pretty reasonable so that's that's probably at least 1 of the stars and then this was good I think my friend thought the fish was good I guess I could give him a little credit because they did give me 2 freeI guess I could give him a little credit because they did give me 2 free coleslaws they weren't very big but you know I don't need a lot you know just something to break it up. I'll give them 4 stars cause they gave me the the coleslaws even though I thought they were a little small but you know they...

Pretty nice and retro. Definitely feels a bit dated, but it gives a unique ambiance. It's nice to see old places continuing to exist in these tough times. Food was pretty good I had the fish and chips. The bread was like a crisp crust, not the typical heavy oily breading like chicken wing. But it is not a light crust, so if that is what you prefer then you may not like it. Fish was really hot, and well cooked. It could have used a little more seasoning though. French fries are the old school style, nice and tasty but cool off quickly. Fry sauce was good almost like a cowboy sauce. And the tartar sauce was unique, a little sweeter than normal but still tangy. Food was pricey, but thems the times unfortunately. And the staff was very nice and friendly! Toilet paper was in the wrong...
