I almost never put bad reviews about places, because in reality people always try to do their job and be nice to the people who visit us, but this time I had a previous review about this place three years ago and I had visited it again on a couple of occasions, this last time, my family came to visit and I recommended this great place to go and enjoy a coffee, the ugliest surprise was when I found a staff who attends the coffee service, with a very bad attitude, full of negativity and above all bad service, I want to tell a little about what happened in this place since I consider it an act of discrimination and extreme use of rudeness by the staff, the only thing that was being taken were photographs like the ones I normally upload to all the places to recommend the space so that people can see how charming the interior can be and above all the atmosphere that is lived there, that is very normal, in addition, the photographs were being taken with my personal phone, with a very negative and rude attitude, a woman who attended the coffee bar, asked us to delete the pictures we had taken, because he didn't want to be in them and that he wasn't going to give us our coffee until we deleted them. He had the coffee in his hand, just stopping and blocking us from taking it until we deleted the picture from our phone and showed him, I think that attitude and that negative experience we had there leaves us with a thought, something sad about a place that was one of our favorites, and above all I start to wonder if the owners of this place have hired people who like to serve people, they may have it is an area frequented by many tourists, and more in these dates that begin large-scale sporting events, and that people from all over the world visit, having such a negative attitude and being so rude with the service and above all discriminating with words and with actions like what did not happen, I think it is not something worthy of a city as friendly as Seattle, with respect to this bad moment that we are living, I will put the photograph of the person who did this act and in no way was a photograph being taken of her, the place was being portrayed and m and More than anything, the atmosphere inside the cafe. I reiterate that it was one of my favorite cafes in the Seattle area, and today it's thanks to this experience. I want everyone who goes and visits to do so with great caution and not expect too much friendliness from the staff. It was a very bad experience at this place; I don't recommend it at all in its summer...

I was in the mood for a latte, and noticed Umbria was open. This was wildly convenient, so I went inside. They have a whole menu on the wall, but there were pretty pictures on the counter distracting me. Turns out it's fall. Turns out they have three seasonal flavors. I decided today was the day to embrace fall - pumpkin spice all the way in the largest cup they were legally allowed to sell me.
I was informed that they make their own syrup. I was informed that my life might change after one-two sips. They were right. You can't buy flavor like this at your local grocer. It just doesn't happen. How could you? The best they can do is put it on the shelf with love. These wonderful people MADE IT with love. Boom. It helps that both of them were the coolest AND nicest people I've met since arriving. Take notes denizens of Seattle.
The sun was shining so I availed myself of the seating arrangements outside. Turns out you can just sit in whatever chair you want out there. Choose wisely... but it's hard to go wrong. The latte completed me. I sat out there for what seemed like hours and was transported to some sort of pumpkin patch. The ground was made out of fall seasonings. The kind you'd find in a pumpkin spice latte... not like the stuff you put on a turkey. Don't be weird.
Normally this should be the end of the review. It's ludicrous how long this is to begin with. You've probably stopped reading at this point to go get yourself some happiness in a cup. But the story doesn't end here new friends. Not by a country mile. I had a walk ahead of me and needed H2O. Turns out Cafe Umbria has a solution for this.
Before I could finish asking "do you have cups for water?", one of the friendly baristas pointed towards a pitcher full of the stuff. Inside was the coldest water in all of Seattle. I was taken aback. I specifically told them to please shut the front door. It was already shut. It totally shuts on it's own. This helps keep the bugs out. it's unrelated to the water. So the water is obviously "off the chain for Y2K" as the kids say.
This place is a magical place. Some say they practice magic there with how amazing everything is. I honestly don't care. Just makes me wish I lived up the street. Enjoy this little slice of heaven Seattle... I'll be...
Read moreI work downtown, and often come to this coffee shop, I have purchased items before but don't make a purchase everytime I come in.. I asked the barista did I need to be a customer to sit in the space I was told no. then once I arrived and did this regularly again I would purchase items but not everytime I come in.. I often used it as a safe space to come sit before I go into work. the barista there with orange hair and glasses he was very rude to me and instead of pulling me to the side to explain this to me.. even after I literally asked him! was very unprofessional and just flat out rude.. you dont know someones situation I just recently got my new job and was waiting for my check as well. more compassion and understanding would go a long way.. the times I did come in and purchase both food and coffee it came up to almost 20 dollars and it wasn't even good!! which is why I didn't purchase items everytime as they just weren't to my taste buds liking again however I liked the atmosphere or so I thought.. , for someone who doesn't have much and was waiting for there check t to pay 20 dollars each time for a coffee and a breakfast sandwich that's a lot.. but I like the establishment and felt safe there so kept coming back. I also was going to purchase an iced coffee the other day when I was there but barely opened up my laptop and got situated to even decide what I wanted before the barista came over being very rude and loudly saying I needed to actually purchase something.. as if I didn't already make two separate purchases .. again was not only unprofessional and rude but also humiliating to have someone publicly humiliate you in front of everyone in the coffee shop, instead of pulling me aside was just not Kind.. Do better! you don't know what someone is...
