got Los Gallos Rojos
let's just say that this filled me up with so much food i didn't eat for the next 22 hours
for the price (only 12 dollars) that's a ridiculous portion size
where to even start
these seemed to be soft tacos, but with a full melted cheese covering on both sides of the shell i would say that's my only slight disappointment - that these weren't really crispy at all - there was no real crunch when i would bite into one of them - rather it was just slightly harder than a soft taco
the cheese did add a great flavoring to the outside though - making this more than a normal taco shell
each taco was absolutely overflowing with stuffing - it got to the point where the plate became another full meal by itself from everything that fell out of the taco
the two main components of each taco were the cheese and the chicken
the cheese was so perfectly melted - may have been the best cheese in a taco i've ever had it created such a satisfying cheese pull every time you took a bite - and it was one consistency throughout, meaning every time you took a bite you had to pull the cheese away from the rest of the taco - which was just fantstic
as for the chicken - i was slightly disappointed that it wasn't spicy in the slightest. However, it still tasted like it had a really nice flavor, and had a soft interior. It being actually spicy would've moved this dish up a lot, though each taco was primarily made out of this chicken - and there was so much of it it was practically insane - but I loved this amount
shoutout to the onions as well - they were great
I asked for the habanero sauce - which i thought was ok - wasn't spicy at all and didn't add much flavor. will go with another sauce next time tried mixing in some taco bell fire sauce which was interesting
i love that these came wrapped in aluminium foil to preserve heat. a great touch
overall, as far as taste, these were pretty good, but when you consider the amount of meat you're getting, along with overall portion size - it's simply a fantastic...
Read moreI wanted to try out a few of their available proteins. So I got 3 tacos and chose chorizo, adobada, and braised beef cheeks. That is the order in which I would rank them as well. The chorizo was the best, very flavorful and spicy without overwhelming the dish. My second favorite was the adobada. It was good, though not quite as good as it could've been. I have had a whole lot of adobada over the years and there's definitely some better out there but it was still solid, and an option I can comfortably recommend. The cheeks were kinda so so. I felt like they really needed more spices and flavors. Without any spicing up of the dish, I expected a strong flavor of beef, but the flavor was a bit off. It just wasn't very good. I wouldn't say it was bad but it wasn't very good either. I wouldn't get it again. One thing I didn't see on the menu, sadly, was al pastor. It's definitely my favorite Mexican protein, and it's absence here was sorely felt.
The horchata was EXCELLENT.
The outdoor seating area was very cool for a food truck. It's covered which is undoubtedly very nice when there is a bit of rain coming down. There's enough seating there for about 20 people if it's totally packed so not a huge area but certainly enough. A welcome opportunity to enjoy my tacos without having to scurry away first. The location is in the core of Ravenna so there's no real issues with crime or riff raff. I imagine there might be an individual or two from time to time with a touch of the sketch on em but I didn't spot any today.
Parking was street only, and paid, so bring some quarters. The staff was super nice. Very friendly.
Overall I definitely enjoyed my meal and will for sure be returning at some point...
Read moreI have eaten food from El Camión 20+ times in the last few years. But tonight I was so overjoyed with my fish burrito with added veggies that I felt the need to write a review.
Let me start by emphasizing the sheer size of this unit. Barely contained within its foil, it is plump and rotund and induces salivation at first sight. It is positively bursting at the seams with the goods.
Every ingredient in this burrito is scrumptious and intentional. It is NOT packed full of dry rice (I love carbmaxxing as much—probably more tbh—than the next guy, but there are better things to put in a burrito). This bad boy houses multiple different types of delicious veggies, perfect beans, savory cheese, a bit of well-seasoned rice, and a truckload of fish (more than you would expect, making for some 👌 macros—more on that later).
I have simply never tried a burrito that rivals the girth, ingredient quality, nutritional value, and generally impressive nature of this one before. Nothing even comes close. You don’t really need the salsas they give you bc it’s already hella juicy so I usually just save them for scrambled eggs the next day.
I think the macros must be something like 70P/150C/50F for 1300+ calories 🤤🤤🤤
tldr: exploding with nutrition and delicion. Supremely anabolic. 10/10 will...
