I have been all over from Everett to Olympia eating Ethiopian food and none I mean of them was as wonderful as this small, personal and fresh made as this beautiful place! I had the vegetarian combo and my husband had the meat combo, none of the restaurants we have tried in all of Washington was as special and well tasting as Kebena! I can't even tell what was my favorite on my plate because it was all wonderfully prepared! I don't eat meat, but I had to taste my husband's meat combo and I loved it also. All of it was well seasoned with their own flavor. Most that we have gone too you can't tell the difference between dishes, but I promise you that you will fall in love each one for sheer uniqueness of each dish! The owner ( Mona)and her helping hands are spectacular, very welcoming, just like you are apart of their own, like home! I enjoyed the beautiful conversation with such a beautiful woman, her waitress was so awesome and inviting, it makes you want to stay longer! If you want a wonderful, inviting and intimate experience please go and taste the best Ethiopian food in Washington in my opinion, I am very pick and most times will not finish, nor will I come back to once it becomes leftovers, but I look forward to having some for later! I loved this restaurant and I know you will too! Come on Southend and everywhere surrounding show some love for this great place! Thank you so much for the hospitality and great food, they will see me again and again! This is my new favorite...
Read moreUpdating review as of 2/13/25. The doro wat only comes with a small chicken drumstick and one egg for $20. The seasoning is great just the quantity to the price of the dish is not worth the portion. It’s a bummer because I will search for a new Ethiopian to try.
I saw this Kebena Ethiopian restaurant on instagram so I had to try the place out. The food; was colorful, seasoned and delicious. I ordered the doro wat and a vegetable combo. The owner threw in a complimentary extra piece of meat and egg. The Ethiopian sparkling water was a great add. The service was amazing! The server was kind, respectful and pleasant and wanted to ensure I had a great experience. The owner whose dream was to own a restaurant, personally cooks the dishes and makes the injera. She came by the table several times to check on my experience. The atmosphere; clean, bright and welcoming! This place is a must go for lunch or dinner. You can place your order online for take out or dine in and enjoy the experience. Now I have my go to Ethiopian restaurant and can add this cultural place to my regular lists of monthly...
Read moreEmbarking on a cultural food journey in 2024, I found myself at Kebena Ethiopian Restaurant, and what a discovery it was! The ambiance is a heartfelt tribute to Ethiopia, with beautifully decorated interiors that immediately set the stage for an authentic dining experience.
The food, especially the TIBS served with injera and two distinct sauces, was nothing short of revelatory. The mustard sauce, with its perfect balance of heat, and the stir-fried beef's rich flavors, left an indelibly delicious aftertaste that beckoned me to savor every bite.
What truly sets Kebena apart is the chef's dedication to authenticity, using time-honored recipes and cooking methods passed down from her mother. Her passion for sharing Ethiopian cuisine with the world is palpable, and her joy in seeing empty plates return is infectious.
Excellent customer service, a warm and inviting atmosphere, and unforgettable food make Kebena a must-visit for anyone seeking to explore the depths of Ethiopian culinary traditions. I'm already looking forward to...
