Got a dozen doughnuts from this place - but I had four of them The four that I had were Bavarian Cream, Maple Bar, Lemon Curd, and Chocolate Sprinkles What I loved the most on these donuts were how soft and fluffy they were on the inside I've had donuts where they've been super dense - and I like that as well - but it's just a unique experience to bite into a donut and get this airy feeling which makes the bite super easy and satisfying it just felt like you were biting clean through the overall doughnut The part that I didn't like as much was the taste of the frosting There weren't a lot of topping options, and I found that these donuts were a bit lacking in the sweetness category The base was really good in pretty much all of them - but I've had better frosting at other places If I had to rank the donuts I tried, I would go Lemon Curd -> Bavarian Creme -> Chocolate Sprinkles -> Maple bar The reason the Lemon Curd was the best wasn't due to the Lemon filling - which was ok - but due to the glazed sugar coating all over the top of the donut - it was the only donut of the ones that I tried that had this. This made the overall donut taste super sweet and gave it a ton of sugary flavor for each bite The Bavarian Creme had a nice chocolate flavor, but like the Lemon Curd, I didn't think the filling was sweet enough The sprinkles were good as a topping on the chocolate sprinkles - but aside from that it wasn't amazing The Maple Bar was about average - nothing special the price ended up being roughly 2 dollars per donut - which was pretty decent. these were average sized donuts I will say each donut is not very filling, due to the airy nature, which could be either a good thing or a bad thing depending on what you want For each donut, I'll give Lemon Curd - 8.5/10 Bavarian Creme - 7.5/10 Chocolate Sprinkes - 6.5/10 Maple bar - 6/10 Overall, a really good texture somewhat outshines the taste. 7.5/10

I was on a donut bicycle ride with a friend, sampling donuts from what ended up being a dozen shops from this one on the SE end of town, to as far as Bitter Lake at the NE end, and everything in between. This place had the best value of donut shops we went to. Yes, I ate a $5 donut on Capitol Hill on this ride that was tastier, but OMG, $5 for a donut? King Donuts hit the sweet spot (heh) of offering a good quality, fresh, delicious donut that wasn't outrageous in price. The interior was clean and cheerful, something not every family-owned and operated shop in this city can manage - I know, having now been inside so many! The owner was knowledgeable about his own donuts and his competitors'. I appreciated him sharing what he knew. Staff in general was friendly, took care of us and other customers well.

I don't think I could like this place more. I recently had to wash all of my belongings because of mold in our house. I spent a lot of time at Kings that day. The family that runs it is kind and it's cool to talk story with them. There are regulars that hang out there and I loved my pad see ew. The donuts are retro and delicious. So many places are over fancifying donuts and it's getting out of hand. $6 for a donut with cardamom...meh. Kings donuts has all my favorites and at less than half the cost. Where else can you have lunch. Take home some donuts for dessert and get some chores done, all while chatting with awesome people. This place is a cornerstone of the community.

I love Kings Donuts. Loved the old owners. Love the new owners. They are really sweet and community oriented. The portions are huge. The service is great. I gave 4 stars because I am not sure if they have a policy on phone orders but when I phone in my order, expecting it to be ready in the given time and not started when I walk in to pick it up, it's never ready in that given time. This has had to have happened at least 5 times in the last year or so that I call in an order on my lunch break to pick it up and have to wait for them to cook it when I get there, making me either later for work or not giving me enough time to eat. If I wanted my food made when I got there, I wouldn't bother calling in a phone order. Besides that, I really enjoy these people. I didn't want to say anything bad because they have become like friends, but my reviews are all honest and as detailed as possible. I always order the shrimp fried rice (in the picture attached, I ate all the shrimp before taking the pic)

Oh yeah, that reminds me... Seattle passed this new "law" about garbage compost and containers being compostable. Well, the new containers suck. The owners knows this, they hate that they have to serve out of these new containiers because they are so flimsy, but it is new law. I'd rather the plastic containers, that doesn't fall apart before you make it home if your food is too...

Don't get me wrong the food is good, (will never compare to the old king donuts!) but I've gotten the chicken pad see ew from here twice, first time it was really good, second time they added too much veggies for my liking, and they didn't have much flavor to them like they did the first time, but I'm rating 3 stars because the phone service! I've called and ordered to go 2 times now the first time was fine, the second time I had to call back a couple times which wasn't that bad but today is a whole nother story! I've called atleast 6-7 times no answer, the second to last time I called someone picked up and hung up! So food is pretty good, (I'm going to get spring rolls now), service is okay & customer service is average okay. EDIT; they were closed! My mistake, but I wonder why the random closure during the weekdays, all I know is I'm going to get my spring rolls...
