The Dragon was toothless but drooled on everything! I am amazed that this restaurant has received accolades and awards! What I saw was large, homestyle plates of food; most people eating noodle dishes, apparently because they are homemade. If the fried vegetable potstickers were an indication of the noodles then you can keep them, too. The potsticker wrapper was very thick, tough and chewy. I could barely cut them with my fork and I am no wimp. The filling was tasty, but just chopped spinach out of a bag as its base. Our very plain "chicken with garlic and vegetables in Szechwan sauce was very salty and smothered in sauce and no garlic that we could find or taste. Many pieces of bell pepper (in both our dishes), were too big to be bite-sized. The "sliced Cod" with black bean sauce was not with black bean sauce, but Szechwan, and I did not realize their mistake till writing this... The cod was battered and fried. The menu does not state this! The batter, like the potstickers, was overdone and tough. The fish itself was good. The only thing positive I can say about this meal is that the portions are large and the ingredients were fresh and of good quality. It is popular with families. There were no Asians dining here that I saw... The first glass of my wife's red wine was absolute plonk! We sent it back and the replacement glass was OK. They opened a new bottle or box for us, it seems. This is not real Chinese food as I know it. It is the over sweet, over salty, over sauced, heavy-handed Americanized version. Service was acceptable. Our waitress wore a Snappy Dragon T-shirt with holes in it. Also, the restaurant is very noisy. The walls are hard and basically bare. I'm assuming this was once a home.
If you are into take-out, large portions, think Sweet and Sour Pork is the typical Chinese dish and the cat's meow and have never eaten where Asians eat, then this...

I really wanted to like this restaurant but after too many bad experiences, I feel compelled to leave a poor review. I have yet to eat inside the actual restaurant, so this review is purely based off my experience with their pick-up and delivery service. The food itself is ok. The house-made noodles see usually pretty tasty. However, bad customer service and several delayed meals later have made me decide that I’m not going to eat from here again. For brevity’s sake, I’ll just recount my last 2 bad experiences (which have been from within the last 6 months)... The first one, I was quoted a 45 minutes for delivery and ended up waiting over and hour and a half. No explanation from staff and no call from anyone either, informing me that a delay would even occur. The second is very recent. I ordered food for pick-up (in attempt to avoid waiting over an hour for delivery) and had my spouse pick up. He arrived at the time that food was quoted to be ready, was told it would be another 5 minutes wait, and then proceeded to wait another 30 minutes in the restaurant (sitting directly in front of the hostess stand). It wasn’t until someone from the restaurant called me to check if I was still picking up the food (45 minutes after the original ready time) that they realized that I had someone waiting there the whole time. From what my husband was telling me, nothing was offered to make amends for the inconvenience.
I really don’t like leaving bad reviews. I like to believe everyone has a bad day. But again, after too many bad experiences I really felt the need to share why I will not be patronizing the...
Read moreUm....not very good Asian food. Went twice -- once for noodles and dumplings, once for entrees with a large group -- just to make sure before posting a negative review. It's a fine restaurant, run very well, with decent quality and portions (prices a bit high), but what they're serving up here is so heavily modified that it's AMERICAN food, not Chinese. This place made its reputation back when there weren't any non-Cantonese (ie, non Dim-Sum) restaurants in the Seattle area. Times change. Go to Bellevue or Lynnwood now and pay 1/4 the price for better, tastier, authentic food in the same style. Not kidding. Potstickers sold 6 per order here; on the Eastside usually orders of 12-20, higher quality too: tastier filling, less doughy wrappers, also handmade in-house. (Even Din Tai Fung is cheaper per unit). Nothing wrong with American-style modifications, just don't be fooled by this restaurant making it on several ”Best of” lists in the Asian category. You won't get anything approaching authentic flavors. This is the suburban (Midwest) restaurant from "A Christmas Story", serving up generic Tiki-room ”Asian-themed” food. I understand there is a market niche for that, but let's be clear. It's like saying Totino’s pizza rolls (which I love!) are Italian food (which they are not). If you find the food at other Chinese restaurants too aggressively spiced, too oily, or simply too foreign, Snappy Dragon might be just the right...
