Really delicious vegetarian bakery with an amazing rooftop deck.
This place has a fantastic atmosphere—lively but never too crowded. The rooftop gets sun all day, and there are plenty of shaded spots if you need a break from the heat. Indoors, there’s also plenty of seating. My only gripe? No Wi-Fi.
I tried a ton of items here. If you're short on time, here are the absolute must-gets: • Bakehouse Breakfast Sandwich – Phenomenal. Served on house-made focaccia with a perfectly cooked egg, some greens, and peppers for a little kick. • Mushroom Parmesan Hand Pie – Excellent at room temp, even better warmed up. • Biscuit & Seasonal Jam – This biscuit is so freaking good. I wish I had 100 of them. The jam is also great. (Hot take: they should serve a breakfast sandwich on this biscuit.) • Cinnamon Roll (Vegan) – Incredible. Light frosting, chewy dough. You’d never guess it’s vegan. Also great warmed up.
More great options: • Chocolate Tahini Milk Bun – Unique and delicious. The tahini adds nutty depth to the rich chocolate. • Lavender Morning Bun – Flaky croissant dough with a strong lavender punch. Excellent. • Peach & Cream Cheese Danish – Fruity, well-balanced, with a light, fluffy crust. • Three Cheese Onion Croissant – Best served warm. The onions are sweet, the cheese is rich. • Coconut Cake (Vegan) – Moist, decadent, almost like cake batter—in a good way. • Iced Strawberry Matcha – Sweet but not cloying. Probably safe to assume all their drinks are solid.
Fun & gimmicky treats: • Mango Twist Soft-Serve in a Croissant Cone – Fun presentation. The mango is tasty and the croissant cone is clever, even if it’s just a croissant cut in half. • Unicorn Horn – It’s just a meringue cookie, but I like it.
Not worth repeating: • Roman Pizza – A bit dry and bland. Basically focaccia with tomato sauce and cheese. Skip it and get the breakfast sandwich instead. • Assorted Cookies & Pastries – Earl Grey shortbread, citrus shortbread, citrus crinkle cookie, twice-baked almond croissant, blueberry muffin, lemon ginger scone, chocolate chip cookie, raspberry lemon tea cake, chocolate hazelnut cake, huckleberry & orange financier: All tasty, but none...
Read moreThe barista was out right rude. I drove by after 4pm to order an iced latte. Maybe it is end of day, but here is the exchange: (comments in brackets)
Me: Can I order an iced latte? Barista: Sure. (everything seems normal) Me: (I wasn't paying attention) Barista: 12 or 16 oz? Me: (I hesitated as I wasn't paying attention) Barista: (slowed down a bit) 12 or 16 oz? Me: (with hesitation) 12 oz. (after a while) Barista: something (he spoke so fast I wasn't catching anything and thought he was asking if I liked whipped cream or not) Me: No. (turns out he was asking if it is okay to make it with whole milk) Barista: (with a scoff almost) then what kind of milk do you want? Me: (trying to cover that I didn't hear properly - English is my second language): whole milk. I thought you were saying oat milk (after the latte was made) Me: Where can I find the cap. (Indeed I wasn't familiar with the store. The caps are right below my nose) Barista: (with sarcastic tone): it's right there
I felt a bit humiliated. Of course it's not a big deal. I even left $1 for tip for a 4 something latte (I genuinely value service industry in general). But I felt this is what could happen to someone like me who have worked in this country for a long time and does speak the language, what could happen to someone who truly doesn't?? He did slow down the first time, so he should have suspected maybe language is the issue here.
Overall I give 20% to a 5 star latte itself and 80% of 0 star to the horrible service, thus one...
Read moreGreat pastries but I do not eat other than chocolate crosants. Can you please drop the price?? I could go to safeway and get the dozens of mini croissant at 5 dollars. I make better coffee than the espresso they make. Eww very overpriced for poor quality of coffee you make. Also, very rude, especially when you are going there at 7 am, which the sign says they are open but clearly they are OPENING not ready to take orders. I can tell they just want to go back to bed not dragged to come to work. Entire time I was patiently Waiting for them to start order, male cashier with blonde hair (shoulder length) was passively gossiping to other coworker why I am here so early. I had to drop and leave one time cause the male cashier was shaking his head off smirking at me for showing up early and asking for bread. Well, it would be fine if they are delievering good customer service. And the female boss (amber hair)never greets me or communicate that they are not ready yet but wait for 5 minute or something.. She literally ignores me like passing me by to put up signs outside and seemed irritated that I am in her way or just showing up early. Service is zeeero. They shouldn’t open if customers are at 7 am nor not ready. It makes them look unprofessional selling 10 dollar pastries. We are paying for overpriced pastries because we expect quality taste and service I live nearby but no matter how hungry I am I am...
