Was exploring different areas of Seattle, and since my friend lives West Seattle, decided to see all the little neighbourhood areas, and this was for sure a stop as I wanted to see how board game/nerd store are in the little suburbs of Seattle.
This was considered more of a café first before the boardgames, nerdy stuff. But at the same time, they have dedicated private rooms for large groups who want to have a private gaming space too. The coolest thing is that they have such a good espresso machine to boot as well, with your games! They have SOO many tables in the café, and they were all the large ones too so you and your friends can play a decent board game. The coolest thing is that the location of the café is in West Seattle close to a lot of residential housing and it is literally a neighborhood gaming store. I love it a lot.
When we visited, it was a Sunday morning, and there weren't a lot of people here, so it was the best time to visit, to grab a quick coffee and a bite to eat. I ordered a typical iced latte, and was invited by a bunch of ladies who brunch for a couple games of American style Mah-jong. I was extremely surprised by the style and on top of that it was extremely fun! I have played a lot of variety of MJ but this version is VERY new to me. I loved the game and the ladies were nice and lovely.
Next time I want to come back here with a couple of friends, use one of their private rooms, and play a whole day of board games & magic...
Read moreGreat board game cafe! We have so many good options in Seattle and I feel really lucky we have another one. TMP is bright, modern, but still has a homey feel.
I'm not a coffee drinker but they have good tea options for cold weather, Italian sodas for when it's warm. Love the sandwiches too--my favorites are the smoky chicken bacon and the Cuban. Also, A+ chocolate chip cookies. Good size, chewy and not crumbly/crunchy, good chocolate chip ratio (yes I'm picky about my cookies!)
Tables are a good size for gaming and I've spent many hours here already hanging out with friends and playing games. The weekends are a bit busier so I prefer going in the evenings during the week when you're pretty much guaranteed a table. If you do want to go on the weekends you can reserve a table or one of the beautiful private rooms to ensure you have the space you want for the time you want 😊
Gamers--you can pre-order games, try their free to play library, or sell used games at your own price....
Read moreThe Missing Piece is a fantastic place for a cup of coffee, and a delicious pastry or warm panini. They use Victrola Coffee Roasters, and are experts at churning out great coffee.
The store is bright, clean, and welcoming. They are serious about social distancing and making sure their customers are safe during the ongoing process pandemic.
They have a couple private rooms, clean unisex bathrooms, a substantial game library, and really nice tables and chairs space out to allow in store play and dining.
Their game offerings run the scale from kids and toddlers, all the way up to expert strategy and euro games. One of the coolest things is they have a week stocked used game section, that have been inspected, shrink wrapped, and priced to sell!
I highly recommend both the coffee, and food... and frankly the environment...
