Ellen's Sweets & Treats — Restaurant in Sebastian

A couple of days ago, I had a last minute request for a “homemade” German Chocolate Cake for my “baby” sister on her 58th birthday. I knew I didn’t have the time or supplies to do it BUT, I had the great good fortune to discover a hidden gem of a bakery in “Ellen’s Sweets and Treats”, located in the Washington Plaza in Sebastian. I called the bakery thinking they might have even a cupcake that would serve. Spoke with a delightful young woman who was in the middle of finishing a wedding cake, but said if I could give her about an hour, she could whip up what I needed. I admit I was doubtful because the bakery was scheduled to close in 30 minutes and I certainly didn’t want her to work over, but it turned out that SHE WAS the owner, Ellen, who created a beautiful and DELICIOUS cake within the time frame she gave me. My sister and other family members claimed they had never had such a delicious cake (as a matter of fact, they all said MY services as the family cake baker would no longer be needed)!😏 Ellen’s also has quite a variety of delicious candies and fudge and other treats! For a relatively small bakery, it’s clean, and well organized to showcase all the items Ellen makes there. I and my family will be frequent customers there from now on. My husband and I went into Ellen's Sweets & Treats because we wanted a delicious carrot cake for my son's birthday. Ellen delivered and then some. Evidently, before I picked up the cake, a couple of customers wanted to buy it. I understand why: the cake looked elegant as well as mouthwatering. When I served the cake, we took pictures of it, I cut it, and we each had a piece. Indeed, we all had a moment of indulgent silence when we tasted the carrot cake, then no one could stop talking about every aspect of it. I look forward to ordering every kind of cake that Ellen bakes! In addition, Ellen created rice crispy treats that go far beyond what you'd expect of that treat. Addictive. And the fudge is absolutely ridiculous. My son pick out some fudge from the many flavors I brought home: he's thirty-one, but had fun deciding which fudge he wanted. I let him steal my coconut cream fudge, but I'll be in for more. (I told him about Ellen growing and cracking the coconuts open.) He wanted my daughter's s'mores fudge, but she wasn't willing. Ellen confections a variety of irresistible traditional fudge flavors and tempting seasonal flavors. Ellen was our baker for our wedding in December. We ordered 120 cupcakes as well as a two tier wedding cake.

Not only was Ellen so helpful throughout the entire process, but she delivered our goodies to our venue on the day of which took SO much off of our plates!

The wedding was a great day, but what really makes every wedding is the food and WOW- she knocked this out of the park.

We got a variety of German chocolate, vanilla blackberry and caramel apple cupcakes. Everyone is STILL raving about them and it has been over a month! We loved them so much that we opted to freeze the very few we had left over so that we can enjoy them here and there.

When reviewing wedding bakers, we got a lot of flack from other vendors because we didn’t want a 7 tier wedding cake or 700 cupcakes. It seemed if you weren’t able to spend upwards of $2,000 they just weren’t interested. We tasted 3 or 4 others and were just not impressed by them, especially for the price that some of these people were asking.

Ellen’s treats are not only incredible, but priced more than fairly. We have already contacted her for a gender reveal cake for our friends and I give her info out constantly. She really is the best baker on the treasure coast.
