I went to check out this diner during a lunch break at my former job a few months ago. I was hesitant to write it but it needs to be said. Why the long wait? Again, (not because of the height things going on...NO! I wasn't sure how to approach it without sounding bitter or angry. I was and still am disappointed.

I didn't know anything about Legends Diner outside of being told by people about how good their food was. When I went in no one greeted me, I wasn't offered a menu or anything. I had to walk up to the dine-in counter where they were. I had alerted the "host" that I would like to sit in and eat. She calls over one of the waitresses who was extremely rude to me! She had an attitude and was like "Well, what do you want?" I was shocked! I had to collect myself because her tone was uncalled for! Not a hello, an offer to sit down, nothing. She ASSUMED I was ordering to-go (which I wasn't). She acted like she didn't want to serve me. Yet she had only two other customers (a co-worker of mine, and an older gentleman). She was nice to them! I did nothing to her to get the following treatment: 1. An longer wait then everyone else for their meals, 2. she bring my food and literally just drops the food ACROSS FROM ME on the table and walks away. Clearly seeing my baffled expression, the host saw what happened and didn't say anything! I wasn't rude to anyone, I was polite, I knew what I wanted after having to HELP MYSELF with getting the menu! I'm never going back there. I don't remember the waitresses' name. I just paid for my food and left. I guess someone was having a bad day and took it out on someone (being me) which was completely...

We decided to venture to this resturant based off previous reviews, while waiting for the traffic to die down. ..

I ordered the Salmon wrap , which started off good and then took a downward slope.. they grilled it with the dark top layer..so as I was eating the pink meat, I started seeing the dark meat/layer cooked with the rest of the piece of salmon. I always scoop that away when grilling Salmon at home. Further more, I've never seen that left on at a resturant before...that turned me off.

My other half ordered shrimp fettuccini and out of the total- five jumbo shrimp that came on his plate, two weren't cleaned; they had the black intestine still on them..Yuck! He didnt finish his food after that..

The teenage waitress was also not attentive..she was literally sitting at the counter with her back turned..instead of tending to her tables.

the $36.00 bill for the two meals..also didnt sit well ..very overpriced for the lack of service and ambiance this diner has to offer.

I noticed the recent positive reviews with pictures, their food looked better than what was served to us. .

They had larger portions. Not like my other halfs plate that cost $16.95 for 5 shrimps (2 not fully cleaned), along a plate full of sauce and pasta.

Also, why did one person's Salmon salad/picture .looked yummy and pink?? I didnt see the dark skin/meat layer, that was stuffed into my wrap??

I guess you have to be a regular customer who's been going there for the past 50 years (age group we saw eating there) to get decent food.

Will not...

After sitting in Lincoln Tunnel traffic trying to get through NYC for an eternity, we were hungry. We stopped at the first New Jersey Turnpike rest stop in Secaucus. However, their overpriced, microwaved, coffee shop offerings were depressing. I checked Google and realized there was a diner close by. In fact, I realized that we could just walk out the back gate of the rest stop, hang a left and walk about 200 yards and there it was - in a different world than the Highway, traffic, and rest stop. It's just what you think a diner should be. What a relaxing break after the stress of heavy-traffic driving on a hot morning. The first thing I saw walking in were the cakes and pies. The menu is full and the prices blew me away. If I stayed on the Highway, I would've spent more on greasy fast food that I wouldn't have enjoyed. The staff was incredibly friendly and I could tell they knew most of the folks in there - truly a local spot. The coffee was good and endless and, you can see from the food photos, the value is outstanding and everything was amazing. We took half of it home. I'm glad we found this spot and I recommend it for anyone heading that way.

Average food and discriminatory behaviour! I went to this place with my family on a Sunday morning for a brunch after seeing 4+ rating on Google. The server attended us OK initially, however, she didn't come back even once to ask as to how things were and didn't refill coffee (I had to stand up and go to the owner to request for refill and then he came himself). On the other hand, this person was entertaining another family very well, unlike the way she did to us, right next to our table. It was clear from seeing the staff and clientele that this place is used to one group of population only, which is highly surprising given that this diner is in Secaucus, NJ, a very cosmopolitan city! At checkout, I mentioned to the owner that I was very frustrated with the way we were treated. He just mentioned sorry and advised me to come again! The irony is that owner was likely an immigrant himself...

Went here on a whim and was highly disappointed. Let me 1st say that the larger gentleman was very nice by greeting us but the ATMOSPHERE of this place is depressing.. you can tell the decor down to the music and utensils weren't changed in YEARS!!. The place was falling apart. The waitress was ok she did come to check up on us which is important but she gave a "I just want to get this over with" vibe. We ordered something simple which was Belgium waffle, eggs wth cheese (which they scrambled into the eggs which is akao important) sausage, bacon Taylor ham for a good price i think under $10 but they charged us i think close to $8 for each orange juice. Lol the food was ok bugging special. I really think they should upgrade to a small menu of popular items and have someone invest into renovating the place.. otherwise i would not recommend this place
