After nearly 30 years of patronage to this business, I am finished. Today I had the fried chicken, as I have had may times over the years. I average three trips a week, with an average ticket of $35 plus tips. The waitresses, are all very accommodating. If you add that up it comes to $1820 a year and $49,140 before tips since I have been patronizing this business over the years. Today the chicken came out dark and over cooked. I asked the waitress to please take it back, which she did without question. Shortly afterwards, the owner brings it back out, slams the plate down on the table and states “there is nothing wrong with the chicken and it is only because the crust fell off that it looks like that”. Nothing about why it all was dark. I attempted to eat it and did not finish the meal. As many that eat fried chicken know, over cooked, dry chicken is not appetizing. This owner is constantly loud and rude to his waitresses and cooks to the point he is driving them away, and it is evident that long time patronage to his business means nothing to him. For that reason, I will never contribute another penny of my hard earned money to his ignorance. Update: After a long absence from Justin’s store, I have decided to return. His fried chicken is unmatched by anyone (as long as it isn’t overcooked). We had a long talk and I feel he genuinely wants to make sure his customers are satisfied. People have bad days. So let’s see how it goes. Today’s chicken...
Read moreFood was good. I got the cowboy crepes which were very yummy but could have tasted better with some potatoes in them. My husband liked his chicken fried steak. My husband did ask for unsweet tea but he got sweet tea. Our waitress was nice and attentive but never told us to check out up front. She put down our ticket and said she’ll be back. I put my debit card down when she came back and asked us if I needed a box I said no thank you. She took my husbands plate and left and never came back. Never told us to have a good day or anything. We waited for her to come back so we could ask her but never did. I had to go up front and ask. Most restaurants nowadays the waitress or waiter takes the card and it would have been nice if she would have informed us that we had to go up front and pay. I know some places you have to pay up front- usually diners. Not a big deal but it was embarrassing when every one(locals I’m sure) was staring at us like we...
Read moreLike Morpheus in the Matrix, Country Kitchen provides you with a choice. Instead of red pills and blue pills however, they have breakfasts, burgers, steaks and everything in between. So if you're paralyzed by choice, maybe you should have a dining companion or a sympathetic waitress block off a couple pages for you.
I don't always eat at Country Kitchen, but when I do, I enjoy it. The food is good and the service is top notch.
Pro Tip: Don't sit in the corner booth next to the door during the winter months, because it's kind of chilly. I'm not sure you can fault that on the restaurant though. Functioning doors are a requirement of the Fire Code, and cold weather in Sedalia is a requirement from God.
All in all a satisfying mid-priced restaurant with a pretty...
