I have been a customer of El Tapatio for about 15 years. Everyone in my family has celebrated many birthdays there and it is a weekly routine for us to stop in an have some authentic Mexican food. We have always loved everything about the restaurant. The service was exceptional. It felt like the employees were held to a high standard there. The food spoke for itself and was the best authentic Mexican food in mid Missouri. We have never had a complaint about the restaurant until they moved their location. I don't feel that a location change would have been damaging to their reputation but it seems like everything that was loved about this restaurant is gone. The food is awful. It isn't fresh and you have to wait more than 40 minutes for 2 tacos. I've been several times since they have changed locations and I have been equally disappointed every time. My food has been cold every time and I have been sick soon after eating there. The service is terrible. You get seated quickly, at a sticky table. Then you wait for a long time for a waiter. The new wait staff is rude. I haven't liked any of the new servers I've had lately. It's like the standards of the entire restaurant have been lowered. I tried to inform the staff that our food was cold the last time we went in. The server said there was nothing he could do about it and did not care and then never returned to our table again. We informed the men at the register about our disappointment in our food and the waiter and they did apologize but said it was the servers job to handle it. We paid the check with a debit card and left. But after all the disappointment we had the last couple visits we still weren't convinced to stop going there until we got home and saw that money had been stolen off our debit card. When contacting the restaurant we were told that the server that was so terrible put charges on our card. After several days and a lot of stress we finally got the money that was stolen from us back. But it didn't come with any type of apology. If you have not eaten here before, I wouldn't start now. It is a terrible restaurant with horrible service and the food went from being the best to not even being comparable with other Mexican restaurants...
Read moreEl Tapatio in Sedalia, MO is a wonderful place to go and get food or drinks. Taco Tuesday has amazing deals on all kinds of hard and soft tacos with all different kinds of meats. They are all so good and they are on special for that day all day long. Then on Wednesday it is Margarita Wednesday with deals on all margaritas as well, two really good days to go in a row. I got 2 beef tacos and 2 pork tacos. I like the pork tacos because of the delicious seasoning they put in it, not sure what it is though. The chicken taco are very good as well with the salsa on top to add some more spice to it. I also got the prickly pear margarita, which is not shown in the picture because I forgot to take a picture. I like the flavor of the margarita, it does taste a little more sweet than other margaritas I have had which I do like. I also got the haibiscus margarita and it tastes just like juice, with the alcohol in it, also very tasty and more of a juicy taste to it. I recommend this to anyone that likes good tacos, margaritas and good deals on different days of the week. Definitely worth the food and drinks,...
Read moreSHARP METAL IN FOOD. PLEASE BE CAREFUL EATING HERE. My husband and I went to el tapatio for lunch and when I took a bite of the rice, a sharp piece of metal shot into my cheek and chipped my tooth. I told my waiter there was metal in my rice and he went and got the manager. The manager then took the metal, agreed that it was metal, and apologized and walked away like it was no big deal. My server also acted like it was no big deal even when we told him we didn't want the food and were leaving. My husband and I did not eat any more of the food and had barely eaten any of it before eating metal, but they still had us pay for the entire meal and drinks that we didn't eat or drink BECAUSE THERE WAS METAL THAT WAS IN MY FOOD. Thank god I didn't swallow it but it chipped my tooth and I had to go get that fixed. You'd think the least they could do after serving me a sharp piece of metal that caused injury would be for us to not have to pay for the meal that we didn't eat because my mouth was bleeding from the metal....
