So over the years I have become kind of obsessed with ribs. I can't go to a new city without finding the best local ribs. I was driving through Sedalia and have seen Kehde's on a few best BBQ lists so I thought I'd stop for lunch. I saw the train car but was excited to see you can dine inside it. That alone was awesome. I order a half rack with beans and hand cut fries. I also got a side of fried portobello. These ribs are no joke, the best I've had. And I have had A LOT of ribs. The rub and the moistness of the meat makes a sauce unnecessary (i am a sauce guy). They are tender but not falling off the bone just like they should be. Smokey but not over smoked. The sauce is a typical KC style sauce. The fries are the real deal. Soft on the inside crispy on the outside golden goodness. The baked beans were obviously house made and had chunks of pork in them. Sweet but not too sweet. The fried mushrooms were worth ordering. Large portobello caps cut instrips and battered. They are seasoned well and had a good dipping sauce. The sauce was sour cream based and had cumin and other spices in it. The service was good, the atmosphere in the train car was awesome. Highly recommend you go out of your way to try this place!

We came on a Sunday in July for lunch. James was our server in the train car. He was great! He also had a younger girl working alongside him and she was great too. Originally we wanted to sit downstairs because we had a party of 6 and wanted to sit together. Unfortunately that wasn't an option so we had to split our party and sit across from each other in the train car. We still had a nice time. We were seated quickly. James made sure we were well informed on lunch choices and let us know what they were out of. He was quick and accommodating! The jalapeno popper appetizer was delicious! Cooked perfectly, crispy, and just the right amount of spice. They didn't seem homemade, more like from a food service company, but that's ok with us. One of my friends ordered the turkey plate and they were a little disappointed with the cut and presentation. It didn't look very appetizing. We also got the honey ice cream from the cooler, which was delicious! Overall I would eat here again. I love the stained glass Missouri sign and all the decorations. After we ate, we were able to visit on the outdoor covered seating area which was great!

Khede’s BBQ in Sedalia is a unique and memorable spot, especially with its setting inside a vintage train car—it adds a nostalgic, fun twist to the dining experience that you don’t find just anywhere. We tried three different sandwiches: the Miss Piggy, the Big Bird, and John’s Prime Rib Sandwich. All three were fantastic. The Miss Piggy was a pork lover’s dream—tender, smoky pulled pork loaded with flavor. The Big Bird featured juicy smoked chicken with great seasoning and a nice balance of smoky and savory. But the standout was John’s Prime Rib Sandwich. It was packed with juicy, flavorful prime rib, sliced thick and served with all the right fixings. Every bite was rich, hearty, and satisfying. Beyond the great food, the service was friendly and quick, and the vibe inside the train car made it a fun and cozy place to enjoy a meal. Whether you’re passing through or local to the area, Khede’s is a must-stop for BBQ with a creative twist. Great sandwiches, fun atmosphere, and a cool location—what more could you ask for?

Review for Kehde's BBQ - Sedalia, MO

I recently visited Kehde's BBQ in Sedalia, MO, and unfortunately, my experience was far from enjoyable. While I had heard great things about the food, what I encountered was an atmosphere that left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome.

From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the overt political commentary that permeated the space. It was disheartening to witness patrons and staff making remarks that felt more divisive than inviting. At one point, I was even told I shouldn’t sit on the train (a feature of the restaurant) if I didn’t support a certain candidate. This kind of rhetoric is not what I expected from a dining experience, and it made me feel bullied for simply having a different perspective.

To make matters worse, our server seemed to be under the influence of something, which added to the overall discomfort of the visit. It was challenging to enjoy our meal when we felt like we were being judged for our beliefs and were served by someone who appeared to be in a less-than-stable state.

If this is the environment the owner supports, it would be more transparent to indicate that with a flag or some other sign, so that patrons know what to expect when they walk in. Everyone deserves to feel welcome and respected, no matter their political views.

While I cannot comment on the food due to the overwhelming discomfort, I cannot recommend Kehde's BBQ based on my experience. I sincerely hope that future visitors have a more welcoming experience, as it seems that the potential for great BBQ is overshadowed by a...

Food was great!! Server was nice, however, never checked on us through our the whole meal, we had to hollar to ask him for refills to go(since we were never offered any in The 1.5 hours we were there) and to ask for to go boxes. Waitors were standing at the front counter on their phones Everytime I looked over there. Small side salad was $4.50+tax, almost was, lettuce, 2 grapes cut in half, 2 grape tomatoes cut in half, 4 slices cucumber, literally 5 shreds of cheese. Cucumber was good, tomatoes pitiful the amount, I've never seen grapes on a basic side salad before, and by 5 shreds of cheese I mean literally only 5 shreds of it. Pretty chensy on that. Needs a lot of improvement there. Rest of the food was good, smoked chicken platter and they gave 3 big pieces of chicken it took up an entire plateful, very good, sides were good. Everything was hot and fresh. Salads need work and they need to have higher standards on how their waitors take care of people. Which means you visit the table after you bring the food to see if people need drinks, napkins, etc. we all had BBQ sauce meals and had to make do with just 1 napkin each. That's a messy meal with just 1 napkin. That's the pros and cons of our experience there. I will go back but not often due to the poor wait service and I will not order a side salad again. I'm sorry folks I normally take pics of all this that I mentioned but it was a birthday dinner so I was busy with other things and...
