This used to be our favorite place to eat here in Selah, mainly because so many of the asian themed restaurants here are just so lacking in the appropriate flavor and consistency which is huge when you are eating out.
It started to be that if he was busy the food would be slightly undercooked. If he wasn't the food would be great, we were somewhat understanding. We ordered on Friday, my husband came and ordered in person so he could gauge how busy he was. We decided to order. Sweet and sour chicken, chicken teriyaki sushi roll, gaoza, and egg rolls. The sweet and sour chicken comes with white rice and yakisoba, normally the sweet and sour chicken is perfect, this time, it was soggy and the sauce was so watered down there was almost no flavor, chicken was overcooked. The yakisoba was overcooked, decent flavor. All the sauce was super watered down. My sushi roll was just falling apart and the lack of flavor ruined it. The boxes with the food had no vent in it which ruined our egg rolls and gyoza, they were soggy and the thin flavorless sauce didn't help cover that up.
This place has amazing egg rolls. I just want to make sure I say that, lol.
My low vote is not for this one visit, it's due to no consistency. Sometimes the food is just amazing and sonetimes...
Read more$100 of pretty awful food. The lack of care and effort is super apparent. We only tried it because it was Monday and all the other Asian food restaurants were closed. Paid extra to get fried rice with the 4 dinners we got. It was just brown rice with maybe a tsp. of egg in 2 of the orders. It was all flavorless and cheap tasting. The gyoza was obviously frozen and processed elsewhere. The outside was spongy the inside had no flavor. The yakisoba was bad and had hardly anything in it. It took forever. The only way these people are making a business happen is due to lack of people never having decent Asian food and no one else has an Asian restaurant open on Mondays. We will never go again and I will never recommend it. Look at all the grease in the container from the eggrolls....
Read moreDon’t be fooled by a 4/5 review this place is worth the visit. While I was expecting a subpar bastardized Asian-American restaurant I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. The proprietor welcomed me into the restaurant with a smiling face and large personality. My order was taken pretty quickly and then the wait began. The wait, which I would estimate as easily over 20 minutes is the sole reason Teppanyaki Box did not get a 5 star review. Was it worth the wait though? You better believe it. The tables were probably 2/3 full yet when I finally got my order of teriyaki, broccoli beef and gyoza I was blown away. Maybe I was extra hungry or perhaps I was just in a good mood, but I have never hesitated to recommend Teppanyaki Box to anyone after eating...
