The place looks nice enough, but all the raving reviews can’t possibly be true. The food came out like mush thrown on top of my roll. I can usually make it through any meal but the food just wasn’t palatable. The salmon nigiri had skin on it and my son (who isn’t picky) couldn’t eat it. They barely included a tiny tiny side of wasabi and withheld any on the actual plates of sushi. Wasabi isn’t expensive, why skimp on this to save money? It takes away from the sushi experience, and I’ve been to many amazing sushi restaurants. Save your money.
Edit to the owner: I spoke to the server about the spicy salmon hand roll, letting her know that it was “all mush” and I couldn’t eat it. She replied “Well, that is how spicy salmon is. That’s how it’s supposed to be.” Spicy salmon is my absolute favorite item when it comes to sushi, and I can assure you that is not how it should be. She did come back to let me know they were removing the roll from my tab, but added “Next time, just don’t order it again okay?”
The mush I mentioned was on the volcano roll. It tasted and felt like straight globs of warm spicy mayonnaise with no texture to chew on. Again, I’ve had many, so just saying “That’s how it’s supposed to be” isn’t going to cut it. After that experience, I just didn’t want to put in any more complaints, I wanted to get out of there. She wasn’t helpful, she was annoyed. Over the many years that I’ve dined out and throughly enjoyed it, I’ve never sent a plate back. NEVER. As I said, I usually can make it through any meal, and if it isn’t good I just keep that in mind for next time. It was the first time I couldn’t get the first bite down, which is the only reason I spoke up about it.
The icing on the cake was when I went to pay my tab, letting them know that I didn’t want to wait any longer for the Rainbow roll that was ordered at the same time as all the other items. The server checking me out (a different one) could see I was obviously not thrilled, and asked if everything was okay. I shook my head and replied, “No, it’s not.” While she did apologize, I do not think that saying sorry and sending me on my way was an adequate response. So yes, I did address my difficulties to more than one person while dining as well as before leaving, but nobody was concerned enough to...
Read moreI finally went here and I can see why it has stellar reviews! My friend and I went here on a Friday night. Both of our sushi orders were excellent. The miso soup was good and the serving was bigger than what you would get at other restaurants. I ordered the Donna roll (I already ate two pieces before taking the picture) and David roll. Both were fresh, filling, and delicious. I liked the David roll a little better, it was packed with fresh fish and scallop and has a small kick to it. We also ordered green tea ice cream, which was good but a little hard.
Now for the service. I wanted to take off one star, but the food made up for it and the staff was nice. It was Friday night, and it was busy the moment my friend and I arrived. The food took a long time to arrive to our table, and my rolls didn't arrive together. We weren't checked on often, so we were without water refills for a long time. We couldn't tell who was our waitress, because the person who brought us water, took our orders, and brought our food were all different people. One of the waitresses said something about one of them being new. The service was so slow, a woman from the next room (where the larger parties are) came to our side and had to ask for a waitress. I'm not "picky" as far as service is concerned, but our experience was noticeable slow. I'm hoping this was just an off night for them. I plan to come back because like I said, the sushi...
Read moreWe had a miscommunication with our server and ended up accidentally ordering an additional, expensive roll we did not mean to order. Instead of working with us and appreciating the miscommunication on both ends due to a language barrier, she blamed us entirely (it was a mutual miscommunication) and had no interest in hearing our interpretation of events so we ended up having to pay for the $20 roll we did not want. The roll we wanted was called the Erine Roll, and there is also a Ryan roll. When we ordered “Erine,” the sever said “you want a Ryan roll?” To which we said yes because we couldn’t hear the difference. We also pointed at the correct one on the menu while ordering. She did not care and blamed us for the mishap.
Also, my friend is gluten free and they had no idea what was gluten free or not. Ordering was a pain. The server actually came out at one point to ask us if their spicy mayo was gluten free. We said we did not know, it is their product and we cannot know if it’s gluten free. Crazy that they would ask us as patrons if their food is gluten free. Do not come here if you have any food allergies or sensitivities.
Overall, the food was decent and came out quickly. Service aside, this was a good experience. The bad service knocked them down for us...
