The Dark Horse Cafe — Restaurant in Seneca

Walking into the interior, you are met with beaming staff who welcome you and a spacious interior with beautiful rustic styled seating. Drinks were served first, and the options were great. I had the sweet tea, and it was very tasty.

The menu is small but has a good selection of breakfast and lunch options. I had the French toast with bacon and eggs and was astounded that it came pre-buttered and with powdered sugar, astounding me on the quality of service. The bacon was cooked to what I can only describe as perfection, with brown crisp, no char, and was just fatty enough for flavor. The eggs were cooked as I had wanted them, and I had to salt and pepper to taste.

I was offered a sample of lentil soup which I regret I could not finish as the flavors were great. We had met the owner and they had shown us the fabulous tea room that was expertly laid out, complete with display cabinet.

For being out of town, I was treated with respect and courtesy, and if I had lived near or in Seneca, the Dark Horse Cafe would be my go to breakfast option. Highly recommended for the price, food quality...

I witnessed an incredibly disappointing incident involving the owner of this establishment. She had parked her vehicle so closely to another car that the driver — a person with one leg — was unable to safely access their vehicle to leave. When politely asked to move her car, the owner outright refused and told the person to "figure it out."

This kind of behavior is not only inconsiderate, it's outright disrespectful to individuals with disabilities. The person had parked in front earlier because of their handicap, and instead of showing basic human decency, the owner chose to be dismissive and rude.

I would strongly urge others to think twice before supporting a business where the leadership displays such a blatant lack of empathy and professionalism.

Decided to try something new today. Was extremely satisfied with the food we ordered. Had a club sandwich with spicy slaw. It was so delicious!! Great presentation, fresh tasting produce. Hubby got a cheeseburger, fries and a side of our favorite, tomato, cucumber, onion salad. Everything was really good and when we left we bought some vanilla cupcakes with white chocolate mousse, cream cheese frosting, strawberry and almonds on top for $1 each!! They were super moist and delicious!! Will definitely be going back. I was surprised there weren't more people there but we did have a late lunch so that was probably why. Hopefully the community will keep these guys...
