Old Southern BBQ - Shakopee — Restaurant in Shakopee

Not worth it - Ate here a few times. Food isn't bad but it was nothing special. Flavor is neutral enough that it seemed safe for a crowd. Places a curbside to go order. Picked it up in a hurry, absolutely should have checked it.

Most of the order was missing. The very modest portions were in huge boxes so it was easy to mistakenly think it looked about right. How embarrassing to arrive at a farewell celebration for a life-long friend with a fraction of the food in hand.

I called and they were great. They were apologetic and offered to remake or refund. I thought I would be a loyal customer for life. I will choose passable food if the people/service are good every time. They said all the right things... and did nothing. I called back asking about the refund and was told they take time and to check back. A week later, apologetic promises to make it right. These amounted to nothing.

A month later I called and an apologetic but un-empowered "manager" assured me I'd get a call from the GM the next day to sort it out. He said "if you don't get a call, call us back." At this point I said, "If I don't hear back I'll have to call my bank. Sorry." He said that was understandable.

Two days later, I called the bank. Now I get to wait 8-10 business days for a form that I have to mail back. Then, it could take several months to get my money back...

Entirely not worth the hassle. Nice words mean nothing when they're paired with in-action. BBQ is blowing up in MN, you have MANY other, better options. Avoid the hassle. I figured I'd be back, but after several calls, and now I have another task on my plate... no... not worth...

The people are awesome that I normally deal with and rarely have issue but this one I needed to add a review for. Purchased 2 of the 2-meat platters and the meat was too dry to eat and enjoy. Called and spoke with Phoenix, the manager on 1/11. Informed him of my concern with the meat that the ribs especially were dried out as if it was leftover. He stated that they smoke the meat 2x a day and there are chances for the meat to be dried depending on the time of day it was purchased which is CRAZY. Husband was able to chew his but mine were more dried out. He offered 5.00 which is an insult for as much money as I spent at the restaurant. He was also rude on the phone and said he cannot do anything but get me 5.00 and iot cost 5.00 to pickup the order. Not sure I will get ribs from here again if they cannot do right by the customer. I am working late and husband went to pickup food and by the time I can go back to the restaurant they will be closed since they close at 8pm. Husband working and could not go bck to complain. Not happy at all.....By him also admitting that that is how some of the meats could be when ordered at 4pm and they close at 8pm makes me not want to order there ribs hoping it will be fresh. Had to add sauce to pulled pork to eat it but the sauce did not do justice for the ribs still could not eat it and enjoy it and had to pick it apart to get the small sections off the bone that...

We visited the Shakopee, MN location on a Sunday at 4 p.m. The restaurant was so hot!! Cashiers had sweat beading up on their foreheads, guests were fanning themselves off with menus. We asked if they had A/C and were told yes, but it doesn't work when it's busy. ??

Our wait was over 25 min for 2 sandwiches.

We ordered the Memphis Mayhem and the Brisket Burger. Photos shows the Smoked Brisket Burger: small dollop of some kind of cheese looking sauce and a bun with 2 slices of brisket. For sides we chose the Jimmy Beans and Mashed Potatoes. Besides being lukewarm when they arrived, they were OK, but nothing distinctive from other BBQ joints. Out total bill was $28.43 for the two sandwiches - no drinks or extra sides.

The staff appeared uncoordinated, chaotic, some were trying to take orders over the phone and the music was blasted so loud in the background it appeared to be difficult for them as they tried to cover one ear. We had to shout our order over the music to the cashier, and staff could not hear what the kitchen staff were yelling out to them. Staff was perspiring from the heat and stress, which was such a turn off when they then turn around and hand you your food...ewww.

In all, our family was disappointed with the pricing of the food vs. what we received, the poor atmosphere, and would not...
