UPDATE, April 2024: This place is just never bad. Had breakfast there this morning and the food was done exactly the way I asked for it and was delicious. The staff they hire here are always such pleasant kids (I mean young people! Everyone is a kid to me now! Haha). We have literally never had a negative experience here and I'm already looking forward to the next time!
My partner and I had a wonderful lunch date here yesterday! (Nov 9th 2022)
The food was very good, the environment was eclectic and interesting and very comfortable, and they play Sinatra and that type of music. We hit it just at the exact right time. They had just opened and no one was there yet so we got all of Mike's attention for our entire meal! Very conveniently the lunch crowd started filing in just as we were paying the check so we got a very peaceful and pleasant lunch date!
The service here is awesome.
I have to admit it's a bit strange seeing such a lovely little cafe in downtown Shamokin, but it also gives me great hope and I would love to see more businesses just like this one come into Shamokin and make it a beautiful town again. Maybe The Sweet Tooth and other great places we have in our quiet little town can help attract more businesses here. Thank you, Mike & family, for such a wonderful effort from you! You are showing the rest of the world what Shamokin used to be... and can definitely be again!
The Sweet Tooth is among some other really great places that have opened in the past few years that make a trip to downtown Shamokin definitely worth the effort. Hopefully we'll have a nice hotel here soon as well so this can become a beautiful fun place to visit with the family or for couples or even business meetings or anyone! I can see Shamokin following in the footsteps of Williamsport or Jim Thorpe as one of the "places to be"! I hope businesses see this as a place worth investing in.
The little details: I had a burger, their creation that they put together with balsamic and mozzarella and tomato... delicious and cooked exactly to my specifications.
The Other Half had chicken & waffles. It was Waffle Wednesday, after all! I tasted the waffle and wished I had gotten one... so, next time we are there on a Wednesday, I'll be choosing one from their extensive waffle menu.
Mike is a very pleasant host and it's definitely worth it for everyone local and visitors to town to go check out The Sweet Tooth as soon as possible! you won't regret it! They have plenty of choices on their menu. I already can't wait to...
Read moreI can't comment on Service or Atmosphere bc I had put in for Delivery Service.
Food: I ordered 2 of both 1) Coal Crackers Breakfast & 2) Cannoli Pancakes. I only have two pieces of constructive criticism (please don't confuse it as a complaint) 1) Price- I have been to places that have more for less & 2) IMPO a cannoli has always been on the sweeter side (what i actually enjoy about them. I'm NOT a sweet fan, but when I am, cannoli is my go to!) not savory.
Opinion: The Coal Cracker was GOOD! Very hearty & the way I'm used to eating my breakfast (although the egg had me chuckle, bc it brought me back to when I was a kid & how my Coal Cracker Stepdad would prepare them when it was his day to cook, lol. Talk about DeJaVu!). The home fries (which had me confused ordering online, bc it gives options that you have to choose home fries or fresh fruit. I wanted home fries & wanted to make sure I got them. Although it says the meal comes with home fries automatically - I still don't know if I ordered extra home fries or chose between them and the fruit. Just an FYI) I was VERY pleased with! They were just right! I'm assuming (by how it's cut) the rye/pumpernickel swirl bread is homemade - YUMMY! From my comment above, you're probably thinking I wasn't a fan of the pancakes & you'd be WRONG! I'm not a fan of pancakes really; however the name of them appealed to my head & gut which is only reason I ordered them. VERY GLAD I did bc it is now holds a personal top spot of one of my favorite foods! When paired with the Coal Cracker- it blended perfectly (so, where I was expecting sweet as noted above - the savory actually hit the spot!). I made a happy plate & I think I'm good with food until sometime tomorrow bc it was all quite filling!
Everywhere the Locals seem to swear by and recommend has fallen short of deliverance! I'm glad I saw you on Door Dash & decided to try something different (bc I nearly gave up on getting any type of diner fair, after taking others advice!
After I came online to check you guys out, I realized where you were, so I will be a repeat customer & maybe try in-house, so i can experience the...
Read moreMy family & I (2 adults & 2 children) were looking for someplace new to try out around this area. After searching Google for restaurants to eat at, we kept coming back to "The Sweet Tooth Cafe." Please don't get discouraged w/the lack of menu postings, the name of the place or photos in general. This spot is a great hiding spot! We went on a Sunday, so the menu was limited...kind of! (One cook on hand) but did man did they deliver! The wait staff was Soo nice and accommodating! (I drink a lot of water and the glasses were small, so they brought a carafe!) The coffee!!! I never drink it black but it was Soo delish black!!! I had a breakfast bread bowl, they were out of the bread bowl, so they"specialized" my meal and discounted my meal! My husband had the honey dipped chicken and waffles! (Holy moly was that chicken great! (Even my girls loved the chicken! (So, much they wouldn't stop asking for more chicken!!!) My girls ordered the chocolate chip pancakes! We ordered the soup to go and the veggie side to go bc we wanted so badly to try them, we just didn't think we could eat them w/breakfast! The soup was home made potato bacon! I couldn't finish my breakfast so I took it to go, my husband couldn't finish the chicken, took that to go! My youngest couldn't finish her pancakes, took them to go! For supper tonight, they are now eating my soup and sharing the chicken. Mommy & day are now trying to find what to eat! The soup is thee best Potato soup, I have been had! The atmosphere is nice, I love the 50s era, music matches. Don't get the concept w/the food but I'm ok w/it. We will be back! I wish I had taken photos! I will next time!! Please, try this place, you won't be disappointed! Btw-Sunday menu is different from weekday menu but still...
