I'm a recent first-time visitor, just happened to be there by chance. I had to wait for a couple of minutes to get somebody's attention and was seated in a corner. The place appeared to be busy and a little too dingy for comfort. I ordered the chicken pho - the waitress at my table (the one with short hair who apparently speaks good English!) didn't appear to be very friendly. She just delivered my order and never attended to my table afterwards. I saw her repeatedly attending to a nearby table that had a bunch of people and never even bothered to look in my direction. It was obvious to me that she was discriminatory and giving preferential treatment to certain customers!
As for the pho itself, it was nothing to write home about - the broth was somewhat bland and the chicken tasted stale (the kind of processed meat that is regular fare at the Asian restaurants).
I made it a point to complain to an older lady (maybe the owner) about the poor service I received. She gave pathetic excuses claiming that the waitress was busy blah blah...She didn't do anything to lift my mood as she obviously didn't care much...
But, I do care about not patronizing such discriminatory establishments that serve only certain "groups" of people. Such restaurants are pretty commonplace in Columbus and I wouldn't support any of them. People who think Columbus is a "cool" city are obviously living in a...
Read morePROS: Delicious Pad Thai, Large Portion Size (second in flavor only to Bankok Thai), extremely clean & hygiene focused, elderly female Asian owner. Convenient location on Bethel strip mall. Authentic, interesting menu with many GF and VG options & customizable spice level. CONS: Pulled eggshell pieces put of my food after munching on some. No Online Ordering via their website, must call in like it's 1999. Priced on higher side (although still not a ripoff), every little add on costs money ("$2 for 2oz hoisin sauce"). Phone service is like a Chinese carryout, sound depressed on the phone taking your order. NO DINE IN, chairs all put up at dinner time. They don't allow customers to approach the counter but make you pay on a card reader from behind a buffet table (very strange, but hey I'm a germaphobe too). They hand you a pen & ask for tips on the receipt for handing you your food that's...
Read moreI have been on the fence to try thai cuisine in columbus from a very long time. I say that, because i have tried something substandard and that had discouraged me over a very long time. I believe bamboo thai was recommended to me by couple of people. This place offers some of the optimally spiced dishes like their tom yum fried rice, tom yum soup, spicy dumplings and oh my god! That pad kra kow with beef was just home made i guess and felt so happy having each morsel of it. Indoors of this restaurant is a modest looking one, but food i bet you will love it or surely order it for to go. This place has now been bookmarked whenever i crave for thai!
